Aldaaron-nous reviendrons immortels cd {paragon records}
aldaaron have been in the black metal underground for a few years
now.releasing 1 demo {2007's "des legend et ancients dieus} and one
listen to the new cd and you will understand why paragon records picked
them up for this release{and hopefully more in the future!} as the music
created is simply brillant.8 tracks of early 90's styled fast black
metal with alot of memorable and well used atmsphere blended in
nicely.the drums are furious and pounding away with so much force and
aggression.the guitars are just as fast with intense riffs and blazing
speeds.mixed in with the whirlwind of guitar riffs are some great
sounding and placed solo's.aldaaron is band that is a must hear for fans
of {early} dissection,emperor and even a little immortal can be heard
within aldaaron's dark sound.

An autmn for crippled children-lost cd {ATMF.rec.}
this
is a release i have been listening to alot! since i recieved it.and
each time i do i hear something i had missed the previous
listen.a.a.f.c.c musically the band seems to be tied within the
depressive black metal realm but also a strong death/doom influence
espically from bands such as early anathema and my dying bride.an autmn
for crippled children are not all dark melodic doom/black metal as their
are outburst of raging,fast black metal.this is a band that is not
afraid to mix up various genres of metal and they do it well.recomended
to fans who enjoy original,dark blackend doom.

anima infernalis- walk in the perdition of a lost world tape {depressive illusions}
anima infernalis is the new project/band from gonark {who some might
know from his previous band atrocious depression} the most notable
difference between atrocious depression and anima infernalis is the
musical style/direction. A.depression was more drone with black metal
touches.where as anima infernalis is more straight forward old-school
black metal. anima infernalis is still very much layered and keeps the
listeners attention with both the more straight-forward agressive black
metal but also has some very well played acoustic/dark
interludes.gonark's vocal style fits perfectly with the new direction.
with the cold/raspy shrieks of torture.fans of raw,atmospheric black
metal should defintly look for anima infernalis!!

anima infernalis-depressed with myself tape {depressive illusions}
here is the second release from italy's master of dark,depressing black
metal.gonark once again handles all the instruments,vocals{when used}
the music this time around on depressed with myself is much more in the
realm of dark,depressing black metal with touches of drone metal.the
vocals which are not used alot on this release are harsh,bitter shrieks
but also some more well used screams of anguish to really give the music
the sad and depressive feeling that this music calls for.for the most
part gonark relys more on his musical writing ability and has created
one of the best depressive black metal releases of 2010!! get this now!!

bring me the head of orion-courting leviathan cd {blackdrone rec.}
this is a style of music that the listener will either love from the
start or despise it with all their heart.and that of course is drone
metal.bring me the head of orion try to add their own unique
sound/style by using razor-sharp guitar riffs from the realm of
sludge,doom metal.another aspect i find interesting is on the four songs
on this release no drums or vocals were used on the music creation. as a
music lover/listener i can appreciate that bring me the head of orion
is trying something different but when it is all said and done the music
itself is not that creative or memorable. drone,sludge fans might enjoy
bring me the head of orion.but as for me i'm gonna pass.

in death i become-black wings,grey skies cd {scattered to the winds rec}
in
death i become are fairly new to the black/death metal scene but with
this release i believe will raise a few eyebrows.starting off with an
amazing guitar riff/solo.the brutal metal onslaught soon follows.the
band doesnt really go for the all-out,over-the top brutality like so
many of todays bands.instead they rely more on the mid-paced,old-school
sound approach.besides the clear death metal influence i can also hear
some thrash and even "traditional" metal riffs combined within the
musical onslaught.espically in the 2nd track "wolfskin demons".the
guitar duo of grimnir and forest work really well together creating both
heavy,and at the same time memorable riffs.the vocals are pure death
metal growls with some blackend shrieks mixed within some of the
songs.in death i become is recomended to fans of quality,original
old-school death/balck/heavy metal.

nyseius-militiae cd {ATMF.rec}
another
fine export from the highly underrated {yet extremely talented french
black metal scene} nyseius have released one of 2010's fines black metal
releases.the few bands i have heard from ATMF.seems to go more for the
depressive or expiremental side of black metal.but nyseius go straight
for the kill with militiae with 6 songs of traditional black metal
fury.i have unfortunatly not had the chance to listen to nyseius
previous releases so i can't compare them with militae.but i can say
militae is as close to a black metal masterpiece as you can
get.razor-sharp guitar riffs and chords,the drums are a range from
mid-paced early 90's black metal to the more furious and fast blast
beats.raw demonic shrieks spew out the lyrics and fit perfectly with
nyseius dark,sinister sound.an amazing release not to be missed by black
metal purists.

shadowrealm-part of the infinity cd {nurdsturm productions}
serbia's shadowrealm have created one of the most interesting,and well
crafted ambient/expiremental releases i've ever had the pleasure of
hearing/reviewing.starting things off with a dreary,slow atmospheric
piece.part of the infinity is 8 tracks of ambient/experimental metal.
mixed within the already dark soundscapes are some expiremental
noises,creative writing that mixes well with shadowdreams already
dark,dreary.the last few songs off this release remind me alot of the
early 80's horror-suspense movie soundtracks.fans of horror movie
soundtracks or ambient/expiremental brilliance will not want to pass up
shadowrealm's releases.

spectre-abyss pro cdr {gravelord productions}
spectre are a new 2 piece out of the ever-growing black metal scene
in england."abyss"contains 3 songs of pure black metal similar to the
norse gods of the early 90's.the duo also mix in some moments of dark
ambience and fit it into the hateful black metal sound nicely to give it
a even darker atmosphere and sound.the guitar has the raw,harsh riffs.
the guitars are mid-paced range throughout the 3 featured tracks so it
will be interesting to hear on future releases if spectre keeps this
sound or if they will break away into the more chaotic,raw sound.for a
debut release spectre has done a great job with abyss. so i am very
eager to hear the new upcoming releases from this young band.

svartiloghin-drifting through the void cd {ATMF.rec}
sweden's
svartiloghin are not a bad band at all but to be truthful i can not get
into this as it has ALOT of influences from indie rock,expirmentl type
of music.and i am not a real familar with these genres.the only real
"black metal"influence i hear are some screamy/scratchy vocals.fans of
newer expiremental black metal might enjoy the band but as for me i'm
gonna stick with nyseius and a.a.f.c and pass on svartiloghin.

towards global holocaust/christ dismembered-upon firmament's of sacrilege and genocide split cd {disease foundry records}
this is a release i have been wanting to hear for awhile now so i was
excited as a kid on christmas to recieve this.starting off the dual
assult is towards global holocaust probably one of the best kept
scecrets in the war,death,black,thrash scene.continuing on with their
violent war metal assult that began with bands debut release "...ever
onwards".the 4 tracks on this release are more mature in writing and the
guitars while still keeping some of the rawness in tact are a bit more
thicker to give it a death metal feel and sound in some of the
tracks.blaash's drumming is even more brutal and chaotic something i
didn't think possible but his drumming style is some of the most
insane,chaotic but also extremly talented and well written beats in this
style of brutal music.the vocals {which both r.f and blaash share on
various songs} are a mix of deeper growls,traditional black metal
shrieks and some of the sickest,most depraved screams/shrieks of
insanity to be ever be recorded by any band.up next is christ
dismemberment this is my first encounter with the band. christ
dismemberment has a very thick bass driven sound.remindes me of early
mortician,incantation and maybe even hints of the classic deceased-luck
of the corpse release.christ dismemberment are not horrible by any means
but i am interested to hear future releases to hear if the band
grows/expands in song-writing.
