Interview  with  Lust Of Decay

1.Hello please introduce yourself to the readers.

Hi, my name is Steve, I am the guitarist and backing vocalist for Lust of Decay.

2.At what age did you first discover death metal and what is it about this genre that you love so much?

I would guess I was in my mid to late teens is when I first discovered death metal… although I was into heavy music at a much younger age starting with some punk, hardcore and thrash metal before eventually finding my way to death metal… in my opinion death metal is just the ultimate form of all metal genres because of its aggression, brutality and complexity.

3.Who were the first bands that you listened to? Who are some of the current bands that you have been listening to?

Some of the first death metal bands that I was listening to was Morbid Angel, Suffocation, Cannibal Corpse, Malevolent Creation, Napalm Death and Deicide… from there I started to discover underground bands like Deeds of Flesh, Malignancy, Devourment, Brodequin and Mortal Decay… and to this day I still listen to all of those bands, plus some of my current favorites like Gorgasm, Defeated Sanity, Incinerate, NecroticGoreBeast, Dying Fetus and so many more…

4.Lust of Decay was started in 2000 what gave you all the idea to start this band? How did you all choose Lust of Decay for the band name?

We were just a group of young guys looking to write some brutal music. There were not any death metal bands in our immediate area, so we wanted to change that… prior to Lust of Decay we were pretty much a thrash metal band and over the course of a couple years we evolved into Lust of Decay. We had several different band names before we finally agreed and settled on Lust of Decay… and that’s who we’ve been ever since.

5.Who would you say are the band’s biggest influences and have they remained the same over the years? For the readers who may not have heard your music yet how would you best describe it?

In our early years we were highly influenced by bands like Lividity, Waco Jesus, Abuse, Skinless and Broken Hope… and with our new album ‘Entombed in Sewage’ I believe you can still hear those old school influences, in addition to other influences like Gorgasm, Suffocation and Dying Fetus.

6.Entombed In Sewage is the bands newest full length how long did it take the band to write the music for this release? Does the whole band take part in the writing process or does one member usually write everything?

Because we are all spread out in different cities and had limited rehearsals together, we were pretty slow writing this album, it took nearly five years to get this entire album written and recorded. For this new album I wrote all the music and Jay wrote all the lyrics… I would present the riffs at rehearsals, then we’d put everything together as a band to complete the songs.

7.Are the band’s previous releases still available for the readers to purchase? And does the band have any other merchandise currently available? If yes, what is available and where can the readers purchase it?

Yes, all three of our previous full lengths are available digitally… and two of them, ‘Infesting the Exhumed’ and ‘Purity Through Dismemberment’, are also available on CD. We have a couple shirt designs, patches and stickers available as well… plus the new ‘Entombed in Sewage’ merchandise that comes out on December 12th. Everything can be purchased at www.comatosemusic.com.

8.Has Lust of Decay had the opportunity to perform very many shows over the years? If yes, what have been some of the band’s most memorable shows? Who are some of your favorite bands that you have gotten to share the stage with?

Oh yes, Lust of Decay was extremely active between 2002 and 2007, we did a lot of shows and festivals during that time. We also had a brief return to performing live between 2014 and 2016 when we did a US tour and festivals. I would have to say that the Central Illinois Metalfests were most memorable for us though, it was just an entire weekend of brutal death metal with so many great bands and friends. We got to share the stage with some of the biggest and best bands in death metal like Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Deicide, Malevolent Creation, Suffocation, Dying Fetus, Mortician, Incantation, Obituary, Immolation, Exhumed… and the list goes on… we were very thankful to play shows and fests with so many of our heroes!

9.Are there any shows or tours planned in support of Entombed in Sewage? If yes, where will the band be performing?

At this time we have no plans for any shows… perhaps that will change in 2026, but for now there’s nothing planned.

10.Besides Lust of Decay do any of the members currently work with other bands or solo projects? If yes, please tell the readers a little about them?

Yes, Jordan currently has a solo project called In-Conquered and Ryan is in the band Coathanger Abortion. Jay isn’t in any active bands at this time but did release albums with his other bands Cesspool of Vermin back in 2021 and Shuriken Cadaveric Entwinement in 2022. As for myself, I am not currently in any other bands, the last side project I was involved with was Purulent Necrosis back in 2019.

11.Thank you for taking the time to fill this interview out, do you have any final comments for the readers?

Thank you very much for this interview, we greatly appreciate the support! Lust of Decay is very excited for our new album ‘Entombed in Sewage’ to drop on December 12th and we hope that all of your readers will savor the sickness and brutality!                                                                                         Lust Of Decay                                                                                                                                                https://www.facebook.com/LustOfDecayOfficial                                                                                        https://www.instagram.com/lust_of_decay_official/?igshid=MTNiYzNiMzkwZA%3D%3D                    Comatose Music                                                                                                                                           https://www.comatosemusic.com/                                                                                                                 https://comatosemusic.bandcamp.com/album/entombed-in-sewage                                                            https://www.facebook.com/Comatosemusiclabel                                                                                        https://www.instagram.com/comatose_music/?utm_medium=copy_link

Unholy Redeemer is a band with members from Australia,Denmark and Finland and this is a review of the debut Mcd.A Fever To Dethrone All Kings is three tracks  of pure death metal  that sounds like it could have released back in the mid 1990's death metal scene. The first track is  A Fever To Dethrone All Kings and starts off with a heavy mid paced guitar passage and crushing drums. The vocals are low brutal death metal growls that are powerful in their delievery. The music does speed to a faster pace throughout the song to show that band can play a nice balance of heavy mid pace and some faster passages equally good.Up next is  Revere The Slaughter and is another mid paced song that is crafted with some excellent musicianship and solo's.The vocals are low and heavy old school growls that fit the bands musicial style perfectly. The final song is Halo Of Flies and is another masterpiece of mid paced old school death metal that is done with intensity and power. The guitars and drums are once again mid paced and both are played with skill and expereince. The vocals are powerful death metal growls. Unholy Redeemer  plays a great old school death metal style that is classic yet well executed with some memorable passages.Highly recomened if you are a fan of dark, death metal that is powerful.                Unholy Redeemer                                                                                                                                         https://unholyredeemer.bandcamp.com/album/a-fever-to-dethrone-all-kings                                            https://www.facebook.com/people/Unholy-Redeemer/100087342811911/?mibextid=LQQJ4d                https://www.instagram.com/unholy_redeemer/                                                                                          Sphere Of Apparition Rec.                                                                                                                            https://www.sphereofapparitionrecords.com/                                                                                              https://sphereofapparitionrecords.bandcamp.com/music                                                                            https://www.facebook.com/SphereofApparitionRecords                                                                            https://www.instagram.com/sphereofapparitionrecs/                                                                                  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_uQrJx6EcwTm5fXi0fXxIA

Hellstorm Apocalypse--Self Titled cd&digital{Sphere Of Apparition Rec.}

Hellstorm Apocalypse is a duo coming out of Australia's black and death metal scene and this is a review of the debut EP.The self titled debut consists of five tracks that are heavly influenced by the mid 90's black and death metal scene and this is not a bad thing at all.Doomsayer handles the instruments except for the drums and does a great job of writing both extremely chaotic black and death metal.Their are also some slower almost melodic passages with synth's being used. Each of the five tracks are well constructed and delievered with a mix of extremely fast and chaotic passages and some slower more well performed patterns. The vocals are also handled by Doomsayer and are a mix of  raw raspy black metal screeches and screams.Their are also some deeper death metal growls used throughout the songs for a nice mix of vocals. The drums are done by HellAeon and are violent blasting drums that are played with speed and aggression. The drums do slow to a more mid paced style throughout the songs to give each song a nice balance between the sheer vicious blast beats and the more mid paced passages.Hellstorm Apocalypse's debut is a great debut that is rooted in the 90's style of  black and death metal with some melodic elements to give the release a unique sound and apporach.                      Hellstorm Apocalypse                                                                                                                                   https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61579587903815                                                                    Sphere Of Apparition Rec.

Interview with Moribundus Christus

1.Hails Yaotizin and I,Misanthrope how are things going with you these days?Pleas introduce yourself to the readers?

Y: Things are going alright. I am Yaotizin guitarist and hatenoise of Moribundus Christus.

I: Hails! This is I, Misanthrope. Been a tough year, but soldiering on.

2.When did you first discover Black and Death Metal and what is it about these genres that drew you in?

Y: I discovered black and death underground metal in the early 90's. The raw heavy fast dark music drew me in. It was more than the run of the mill thrash and punk I had been listening to. It was intoxicating and the imagery and messages of the bands got me hooked too. But mainly the music.

I: I discovered death metal around 1990. I started reading Metal Maniacs magazine and discovering all the bands that were even heavier than thrash’s Big Four. After hearing blast beats with Napalm Death’s “Suffer the Children” for the first time, I was hooked! I technically discovered black metal with Venom and Mercyful Fate as their stuff was on all these Satanic Panic videos my childhood church would show us. I was always drawn to darker music, and I discovered 2nd wave black metal with Abigor’s Opus IV in ‘96 while I was helping out my friend's webzine Vibrations of Doom. Once again, I was hooked!

3.Who were the first Black and Death Metal bands that you discovered? Who are some of the current bands that you have been listening to?

Y: Venom, Celtic Frost, Kreator, Morbid Angel, Entombed, Carcass, Napalm Death. To name a few big ones. Current bands I listen to: Mgla, Craft, Blood incantation,1349, Necrotic Disgorgement, author and punisher,Dissonant Seepage, dillinger escape plan, panopticon

I: Venom, Abigor, Celtic Frost, Hellhammer, Napalm Death, and Obituary. Newer stuff I’ve been listening to: Chovu, Namtaru, Blackbraid, Panopticon, Shining, Isataii, Anaal Nathrakh.

4.When did you first get the idea to start this band? Are you satisfied with how everything has gone with the band so far?

Y: Started Moribundus Christus back in 2016 as an idea,Than produced a cassette ep with me on vocals and guitars and I Misanthrope programming drums. Yes so far I am proud of what we have accomplished as a band. I feel there is more we need to accomplish so satisfaction has not been reached yet.

I: Though I’m a middle-aged man, I’m still really pissed off at the world. I wanted to play extremely angry black metal as a release, so Yaotzin and I joined forces in 2016 to make that happen. So far, I’ve been very pleased with how we're progressing!

5.How did you choose Moribundus Christus as the name for this project? For the readers who have never heard the band how would you best describe the bands music over the years?

Y: The band name was a collaboration between I and I Misanthrope with the overlaying theme of a dying God.Blackgrindhatenoise is how is describe our music.

I: Yaotzin and I nearly named the band Plaguebearer, but there was already a band with that name. So we decided to go with the concept of a dying god. Moribundus Christus is Latin for “dying Christ”.

6.Operation:Apocalyptic Extermination is the second full length how long did it take you to write the music for this release?

Y: Yes it is our second LP. After we finished our first LP HOSTILE we took a break than reconvene to start writing OAE it all started with the single we recorded in 2023 the single RUINS OF SANITY from than until this year we worked Diligently on what became OAE so it took in all about 2 years to complete.

I: For this album, we started with the song “Ruins of Sanity” in 2023. I received most of my inspiration for the tracks between then and this year.

7.Where did you draw inspiration for the lyrics on this release?Which usually comes first the music or the lyrics?

Y: Lyrics come from reality based frustrations and also Some mind Bending moments of pure hostile hatred and anger at the human race.

I: My lyrics and drums were inspired by my anger for the Christofascist takeover of our government and economic systems as well as just how full of shit the human race is - nothing pisses me off more! However, the very first song was inspired by my survival of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. I had to get this experience written down so I never forget what happened - trust me, I don't want to make an attempt on my life ever again! I need to stay alive - kicking and screaming!

8.Besides the Operation:Apocalyptic Exterminaion cd are the previous releases still availible for the readers to purchase?Besides physical releases does the band have any other merchandise currently availible? If yes what is availible and where can the readers buy it?

Y: Plague Demon Records and Our Ancient Future carry our releases respectively on CD, Digital for Plague Demon Records and Digital and on Cassette with Our Ancient Future.

I: To my knowledge, the Hostile CDs are still available at Plague Demon Records’ Bandcamp, and the cassette version of our debut EP The Morbid Cult is available at Our Ancient Future's website. Plague Demon also has a Teespring store (I think they're called Spring now) with some of our stuff, and I made a Spring store specifically for Moribundus Christus printed merch. Not sure if that's still up.

9.I know you work with quite a few different bands and projects what other projects are you currently working with?

Y: Currently I an working on the final BLASPHERION full length album with some colleagues. Also Cranial Impalement which I play guitar in as well Is currently working on recording material for a debut Full length album. I, Misanthrope and I are working on the next Moribundus Christus release as we speak.

I: I was doing some solo work with I, Misanthrope, but I haven’t had enough inspiration for it to write anything else at the moment. However, BloodSong, my Danzig-inspired horror rock project, has been releasing several songs. I’m working with guitarist Dr. Anthony Fulci on that one. Hoping to have some new songs released next year, at least in time for Halloween.

10.When you need to take a break from working on new music or band business what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Y: I am always playing guitar or working on music. Not always of the metal nature. That's how I relax. Been playing basically my entire life since I was 10 now iam 45 so you can do the math. Other things I do outside of music hmmm Go hiking in the mountains, get away from humans.

I: Spending time with my family and my dogs (we’ve got 5 of them). Mostly we’ll binge-watch shows or horror movies.

11.What does Black Metal mean to you?

Y: Rebellion against the frail and stagnant norms of Humanites society.

I: Rebellion, particularly against religion and other mindless aspects of human civilization.

12.Thank you Yaotizin and I,Misanthrope for taking the time to fill this interview out do you have any final comments for the readers?

Y: Keep your eyes and ears open for a new Moribundus Christus release.

I: Be sure to check out the new album if you haven't already. Also, we’re hoping to start work on another album soon - more details on that later. Remember - no gods, no masters. Only death is real.       Moribundus Christus                                                                                                                                     https://moribunduschristus.bandcamp.com/                                                                                                  https://www.facebook.com/moribunduschristus/                                                                                         Plague Demon Rec.                                                                                                                                       https://moribunduschristus.bandcamp.com/album/operation-apocalyptic-exterminaion                              https://www.facebook.com/Plaguedemonrecords.net/                                                                                  https://www.instagram.com/namtar.axarcuth/#                                                                                            https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt4Jqad8hAHPHisR2aU4Q4A

Interview with Putrevore

1.Hello please introudce yourselves to the readers?

Rogga - Rogga Johansson, maker of a lot of music I guess you could say. Guitarist, even though I wouldnt really label myself any good at that. In Putrevore Im anyways the guy doing the riffing.

2.At what age did you two first discover death metal music and what is it about this genre that drew you in?

Rogga - I grew up with heavy metal since I was a small kid, who borrowed and copied tapes from older friends. I dont know when it got more extreme really, I guess in sixth grade both more extreme metal and industrial music was getting more and more interesting to me and then a few years after I started making my own music really.

3.Who were the first bands that caught your attention?Who are some of the current bands that you all have been listening?

Rogga - Well the first bands that really made me love music was stuff like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, WASP and Twisted Sister. Then I got into stuff like Dismember, but also industrial music like Skinny Puppy. As for current bands Im not very interested really, I more like old band and also like when they make new albums. I still listen to the new stuff they release. I think a new band I really enjoy though is High Parasite, very good stuff.

4.When did the two of you first meet and was it long before you started this band

Rogga - I think we came across each other maybe 25 years ago. I dont recall how but my guess would be that it was when Dave signed Paganizer to his label.

5.Who would you say are Putrevore's biggest influences and have they remained the same over the years? For the readers who may not have heard the band yet how would you describe the music?

Rogga - Actually Dave is my biggest influence when it comes to Putrevore haha. Sounds strange maybe but I have my own style of writing, and Dave told me to stop that haha, and make something more brutal and heavy and eeire. He told me to check out Funebre and Rottrevore and stuff like that, which I wasnt very familiar with, and then I simply tried to make music that was as heavy. I dont know how to describe Putrevore best but I try to make it as crushing as I can. But still I tend to put some melody work into it aswell.

6.Rogga J. you handle the guitars and bass for the band when did you first become interested in writing and performing music?Who are some of your biggest influences over the years?

Rogga - It was back in the sixth grade, when I was listening to both metal and industrial music. Then I tried making my own stuff with electronic gear, and then I started growling. And a few years later I also picked up the guitar, mainly because I didnt just wanna be the growler and try to describe my ideas to the guitarplayer, I felt it was easier if I just played  them myself. Then through the decades I have kept doing it, growling, making industrial music and playing guitar. I like to be diverse and do all theses different parts myself.

7.Dave R. you take care of the vocals for the band when did you first start growling and screaming? Do you do anything special to keep your voice healthy?

Dave - No, I don't really do anything special to take care of my voice, I live a normal life and the truth is that I don't usually sing except in rehearsals, recordings or live shows.

8.Who would you say are your favorite vocalist over the years?

Rogga - Ive always been very fond of Kam Lee and Dan Swanö.

9.Unending Rotten Cycle is the bands newest full length how long did it take to write the music for this release? How long would you say it takes to complete one song?

Rogga - Oh I dont recall really. when I start writing for an album it usually goes rather fast. So I would guess the whole album and the lyrics maybe took a couple of weeks. But then there's of corpse time added for arranging Dave's vocals and arranging drums by the drummer.

10.Besides the new release are the bands previous releases still availible for the readers to purchase?Besides physical cd's is their any other merchandise currently available? If yes what is availible and where can the readers purchase it?

Rogga - This is a Dave question!

11.Both of you have been involved in the Underground Metal scene for deacades what is it that has kept you active in the scene for so long?

Rogga - I love the music, its as simple as that. I love playing music and theres a lot of nice people as well thats nice to share ideas with and to work with.

12.When you need to take a break from working on new music or band business what do you like to do in your free time?

Rogga - I like to spend time with the family, barbequing and drinking beer is also a great hobby haha.

13.Thank you for taking the time to fill this interview out do you have any final comments for the readers?

Rogga - yes of corpse, check out the new album!
