Umbral Veil  is a new duo coming out of Canada's death,doom scene and this is a review the debut EP.-Dwell contains four tracks of extreme death and doom for a unique release.The first track is Dwell starting off with some wind sounds it doesn't take long before the mid paced guitars kick in.The music is heavy mid paced guitars and drums that devestating in their delievery.The vocals are low death metal growls and some raw gruff screams.Up next is Lesions Within The Poisoned Realms and is much more faster and pure death metal song.With fast guitars and pounding drums both instruments are powerful.The vocals are raw gruff screams and growls.Obfuscated Labrinths Of Untold Horror starts off a little more doomish sounding with guitars then some death metal growls and slow drums.The music is dense and dreary with some powerful and heavy guitars and drums.The vocals are raw screams and some death metal growls are used at the begining of the song.Hallucinations Of  Dendritic Distortions is the longest song in just over ten minutes.The music starts off with some mid paced guitars and drums both the instruments are well performed and powerful.About four minutes into the song the music picks up a little speed with some faster tempoed guitars and drums.The vocals are death metal growls and some raw screams are used throughout the song as well.Dwell is a really good debut with a mix of death doom and some faster death metal passages worthy of your atteention.                                                      Umbral Veil                                                                                                                                                     https://umbralveildeathdoom.bandcamp.com/album/dwell

Planet Retaliates--Black Iron Prision demo {digital}{Independant}

Unending--Isolation CXIX Digital release{Self-Released} posted on 2-22-25

Today, I’m lucky enough to be talking to Matt, from up and coming UK melodic BM/Gothic Metal outfit, Lord Of Emptiness….

Hi Matt, thanks for taking the time out your busy schedule to talk to our readers

1- When, where and why did you decide to form LOE

- “I have been a fan of Mortiis and Gwar since I was a teen.. one day in 2023 I decided to get some songs I had wrote back in the 90s out and try to do some music and using my influences such as Mortiis, Fields of the nephilim,Gwar and also Mayhem and Summoning I came up with an idea for a kind of gothic black metal horror band.”

2- You’ve just released a new single, a real cracker if I may say so… tell us about the debut album, Eternal Bloodlust, due later this year... Run us through the tracks, and tell our readers where they can buy a copy…- 

“it’s a mixed bad featuring some heavy gothic and some dark tunes.. I’ll let people discover more when they buy but my fave songs on the album are basically based around ceremonial magic.. mortality.. the fkd up world we live in and vampires…my favourite song being Vlad Tepes. I hope people will enjoy the diversity of the tracks I wont ruin it by revealing too much.

3- Tell us about the new material you’re currently recording…

~ I am in process of creating some more horror/gothic based songs .. with more of my different influences in the music. I want every album to have a unique feel to it. A lot more to come in the near future!

4- Tell us about the current line up- who plays what, who writes what..

~ I do the vocals: some guitar and the programming.. its all me although I have an old friend who is collaborating with me on a song which I have posted a snippet of called “When death calls”.. I will reveal more about this on next album.

5- What is the inspiration behind the lyrical content of your tracks?

~ “My love of horror : vampires and the occult!

6- Who writes the lyrics and music? What is the process behind creating a new track?

~ I use various tools but I write all the lyrics..90% were already written in the 90s when I was homeless and in a dark place. I was heavily into occultism as a youngster and its never left me.

7- Do you have plans to take LOE to the live stage? 

~ Not at present I am a very private guy but with a good enough band support and technical team maybe one day ..

8- Which bands have inspired you and why?

~ from a kid I loved Iron maiden and acdc then I got into Mortiis ,Gwar, Mayhem, Summoning and Caladan brood ..and my influences had taken effect by inspiring me to start writing lyrics by the time I was 15.

9- Tell us about the local scene in UK…recommend some new bands for our readers….

- The local metal scene is pretty diverse here a lot of bands people just don’t hear about but im gonna mention Spawn of psychosis from my home town Maidstone as they are the only local band I know and are a cool punk/metal band

10- Where would you be now if you hadn’t started LOE?

~ possibly drinking and in a police cell. Sorry short answer

11- What are your top five albums of all time?

~ Caladan Brood – Echoes of battle, Mortiis – the smell of rain, Iron Maiden- live after death,Fields of the nephilim- the nephilim and Enigma-mcmxc a.d

12- What advice would you give to any up and coming musicians looking to follow in your footsteps?

~ Go with it! Whatever inspires you .. you must act on it cos you’ll never know if you don’t do it .

13- Would you like to add anything for our readers?

 I am very flattered by the positivity I have received so far on facebook on youtube and am hoping to meet the expectation of my new fans with the new album Eternal Bloodlust. Interview with Peter Vocalist, Bass player of Alvarez done on 7-26-22

 

1. Hello Peter how are you doing this week? Please introduce yourself to the readers?

Not much to say about myself. Playing guitar and bass all the time. I am originally from Austria, but I live now in Slovakia for over 20 years.

2. When did you first discover Metal music and who were the first bands and artists that you listened to? Who are some of the current bands that have caught your attention?

My first album was Paranoid from Black Sabbath. It was in the early 70ties when I was a child. Early Sabbath with Ozzy is my fave music till today! Some of the milestones for me are: Number of the Beast/Maiden, Defenders/Priest, Master/Metallica, Hell Awaits/Slayer. I did not listen to new bands.

3. When did you discover death and doom metal and what is it about these musicial styles that you love so much?

Early Morbid Angel and Death influenced me very much. After this the only deathmetal band makes me headbanging was Six Feet Under with their first 3 albums. I like this kind of powerdeathmetal with cool grooves. Doom is for me early B.Sabbath!!!

4. Peter when did you first become interested in writing and performing music?Are you self taught or did you take lessons when first starting out?

 I have got a bass when i was 17 years old. I took some lessons from a jazz musician out of our area. When I was 19 i started to play in bands and creat music.

5. What are the current instruments that you play? Are their any instruments that you would like to learn to play one day?

I play bass and guitar. That is enough for me.

6. Peter you also handle the vocals for the band when did you first start singing and growling? Is there anything you do to keep your throat and voice healthy?

I started to growl in the 90ties with some backing vocals for my former band. I have my voice whenever I need it. Never a problem with my voice.

7. Who would you say are some of your biggest influences and favorite musicians? Who are some of your favorite vocalists over the years?

7) My bass heroes are Geezer Butler and Cliff Burton. My favorite vocalists are Lemmy and Ozzy!

8. When did you first get the idea to start Alvarez and are satisfied with how things have progressed with the band so far? How did you choose Alvarez as the band name?

 I started with Alvarez in 2019. After a lomg music break in my life I got the feeling to do it again. I am happy with how things are doing. Plaguedemon Records release all 3 Alvarez albums and I am proud to be a part of this perfect family! In my former band some of the bandmembers called me Alvarez. This is because the band calls Alvarez. Very simple!

9. Who would you say are the bands biggest influences and have they remained the same over the years?For the readers who have never heard Alvarez's music how would you best describe the bands musicial style?

We try to ignore other music if we create Alvarez songs. It is important for us to have our own style. Alvarez metal!

10. Moonshinewhores is the bands third full length release how long did it take to write the music for the new release?How long does it usually take to complete one song?

 We enter the record studio without any idea. The whole songwriting and recording takes just one week together. It is the best way for us to create music.

11. Peter you handle the vocals so I assume you write the lyrics for the music. What are some subjects written about on the new release?

 All our albums are about ancient Sumeria and Egypt. The new one is about a demigood survived the great flood. It is about him and his seven daughters the SEVEN WITCHES OF ERIDU.

12. Besides the new release Moonshinewhores are the bands previous releases still availible for the readers to purchase?Besides physical releases does the band have any other merchandise currently available? If yes what is availible and where can the readers purchase it?

Alvarez have the plan to play live shows all over Europe from summer 2023 on. With my former band I have played lot of great shows as support band. Some of this bands was Megadeath, Moonspell, Therion, Amorphis, Vader, Sinister, Six Feet Under, Carcass, Mortician and much more.

14. Besides working in Alvarez do you or any of the members currently play in any other bands or solo projects?If yes please tell the readers a little about them?

No,we all play only in Alvarez

15. When you need to take a break from working on new music or band business what do you like to do in your free time?
