More than twenty years have passed, and the band Congruity continues to perfect its exceptional sound technique.
Their audacious black death metal is well-known to all listeners and fans of the genre. And if you don't know them yet, I suggest you discover the Portuguese group.
We have in our hands the new ep “Inferno”, and as it says, it is precisely a hellish album, with an authentic lyrical malevolence.
I would highlight the imposing adaptation of Fernando Pessoa's poem in the song “O Inferno de ser Eu”, in which, like the immortal poet, the band describes the inner personal struggles of human beings throughout life.
In this way, Congruity goes beyond the themes of violence, bloody words and blasphemy, which are known and always repeated in this type of sound, showing a much more intrinsic side full of deep inspiration.
The production quality of this work is brutally perfect, with very solid technical skills, where the drum work brightens up the whole ep.
In 20 minutes, the band makes us fall into a chaotic, aggressive abyss of sound, with a more melancholic mid-ambient surprise in the instrumental track “Only Ashes Remain”.
The devastating gutturals and overwhelming riffs complement the “Inferno” ep, leaving open the colossus that is to come in the future.
