Interview with Grafvitnir done by Patrick on 2-27-15
Here is a new interview with the Swedish black metal band "Grafvitnir" who recently released their new cd "Semen Serpentis" through the mighty Carnal Records in Sweden. If your a fan of mid 90's black metal with some occult influences defintly check this band out as soon as you can.
Interview with Grafvitnir done by Patrick
1. Hails! When did the members of Grafvitnir first meet? How did you all come up with the name of your band? What is the meaning of the band's name?
We met through our mutual interest in occultism and music.
I found the name Grafvitnir in the ancient Edda.
Grafvitnir is the name of one of the countless snakes that resides below the world tree Yggdrasil and gnaws at its roots. The name itself may possibly have the meaning Grave Wolf.
2. What is the current line-up for the band? For the readers who have never heard Grafvitnir's music how would you describe it?
Grafvitnir consists at the moment of the two members Niantiel and Modrius.
Grafvitnir´s music could be classified as typical scandinavian black metal with occult lyrics.
3.Grafvitnir is getting ready to release their new cd "Semen Serpentis" through Carnal Rec. how did the band come in contact with this great label?
We asked Björn of Carnal Records if he wanted to release it and got a positive response, as simple as that.
4.Who usually writes the music for the band does the whole band take part or does one member usually take care of everything?
We open up our clairaudience and play the tunes of Sitra Ahra.
We all contribute to the whole of the performance, but all our inspiration comes from the realm Beyond.
5.Who usually writes the lyrics for the band? What are some subjects you all write about?
We write exclusively about occultism. Everything else is irrelevant.
6.Does Grafvitnir ever play live or do you all prefer to work in the studio? Who are some bands you have shared the stage with?
We are not interested in live performances, at least not for now.
7. What does Black Metal mean to you all?
Black Metal should be a glittering dagger in the heart of the establishment like it was meant from the beginning.
Black metal should be shunned like the plague by the Demiurge media. (The substances, individuals, bands etc that get publicity in the enemy media usually belongs to the phalanx controlled opposition.)
Black metal shall certainly not be about pledging allegiance and submission to the establishment. Occultism in tunes! Black Metal is war!
8. I believe I read that the band gets some of their lyrics from the occult and withcraft when did you start studying these subjects?
We have studied these subjects as far back as we can remember. It is our lifeblood. Everything else is in principle irrelevant.
9. Who are some occultist you can releate to and study the most?
Kenneth Grant, Aleister Crowley, Dénis Lindbohm - there is a plethora.
However, desktop occultism is reprehensible.
The forces of Beyond are what´s interesting.
10. Grafvitnir comes out of the mighty Swedish black metal scene. what is your opinion on Sweden's black metal scene?
To be perfectly honest I don´t care much about the Swedish black metal scene of today.
11.Who are some of your all-time favorite Swedish metal bands? Are their any new bands you feel the readers should check out soon?
Bathory is still a house band, of course.
I have always appreciated bands that do not wag their tails like dogs before the establishment but rather stick to the martial core Black Metal in my opinion should be about.
The great band Sorhin has in my opinion always maintained its integrity
12.Thank you for taking the time to fill out this interview do you all have any final words for the readers?
It is me who should thank you for the interview, as I raise my crosier and proclaim that the sinister path of the Werewolf is a draconian and diabolical one, but it leads to the ultimate goal - far beyond Samsara´s weakening restrictions!
We are the torchbearers of draconian fire.
Let the flaming sword of Sorath tear this illusory world to pieces!
Hosanna in Exelcis!
