Mare is the fourth full length from Germany's Anael and what a release it is.The music is delievered with mainly mid paced guitars and drums that are done with skill.The guitars are played with alot of skillful writing and great patterns.The guitarist does speed to a faster black metal style and pace through a few tracks but seems more at ease with the mid paced range.The drums are done in the same vein with some extremly well performed mid paced drum passages.The drummer does speed to a faster drum pace in a few of the tracks but seems more comfortable with the mid paced style.The vocals are very unique and interesting sounding with gruff death metal growls and some whispery type of vocals that are used in a few of the songs.Anael has crafted a masterpiece of dark and moody black metal.Highly recomended to those who love original sounding black metal.
