Interview with Grafvitnir done by Patrick
1. Hails please introduce yourself to the readers? What gave you the idea to start this band Grafvitnir and how did you all choose the name of the band?
We, being Grafvitnir, consists of three individuals that have joined forces to express our admiration and love for the kingdom Beyond.
We simply needed a vessel to express ourselves and the forces that work through us.
The name Grafvitnir is the name of one of the countless serpents that resides under the world tree Yggdrasil in Norse mythology. We thought it would be a suitable name as we are deeply entangled in the serpentine forces of Sitra Ahra and also hails from Scandinavia.
2. Grafvitnir is getting ready to release their fourth cd "Obeisance To A Witch Moon" how long did it take the band to write the music for this release? And does the whole band work on the music or does one member usually write everything?
The recording of this one was the quickest one up to date actually. It took a couple of weeks, both composing and recording. We create lyrics and music altogether as a unit, it just comes naturally to us. But I might add that that varies a lot, from song to song and album to album.
3. "Obeisance To A Witch Moon" is the bands fourth release how would you say Grafvitnir's music has changed over the years?
I wouldn't say that it has changed that much. Our well of inspiration are the forces of Beyond which exists outside time and space. Our music is timeless as well.

4. Besides the newest cd are any of the past releases still available if yes where can the readers buy it? Other then cd releases does the band have any other merchandise available for the readers?
I think most of our releases are available as well as shirts and patches if you contact carnal records.http://www.carnalrecords.com/

5. Grafvitnir draws inspiration for the lyrics from the occult when did you become interested in studying the occult?
We have been interested in the Occult since we were really young. That has always been our main driving force.

6. Who are some occultist you read and study? Besides occult subjects do you study any other subjects if yes what do you study?
Kenneth Grant, Aleister Crowley, Dénis Lindbohm - there is a plethora.
Other subjects we study are string theory and quantum physics and personally I like to read about psychiatry, psychology, hypnotism and pretty much everything concerning the human psyche really.
7. What does black metal mean to you?
Aggressive and/or atmospheric music with dark and/or occult lyrics. There's got to be a sinister touch and vibe to it. The idealization of Black Metal would be tunes that sucks the listener into realms of desolation and fathomless paradoxical revelations, where time (as we know it) has ceased to be (or never was).
8. Does Grafvitnir play live very often or do you prefer working in the studio? What have been some ofGrafvitnir's most memorable shows?
We actually have never played live, as of yet. Perhaps we never will, that remains to be seen.
We prefer to work in the studio or rather participate in the whole process with composing, recording and deal with the creative process with lyrics, cover artwork, and so on.
