Hell Poison play black speed metal that reminds me a bit of early Cruel Force and later Midnight, albeit with more of a focus on speed metal. The production has an interesting quality to it, and it's almost a little muddy where the guitars are concerned. It gives the album a lot of character. This is speed metal simplified down to its base elements so that it almost sounds like punk in a way on some songs, with driving beats and a Venom-like quality to some of the songs. The vocals are delivered in a mid-ranged snarl, halfway between a shout and a growl, and it reeks of attitude. I like the almost rock 'n roll feel of a lot of the songs on this record, it's a definite different approach to black thrash. One man plays everything in this band, and it always amazes me when one musician has this much talent and plays this many instruments. It's an accomplishment and he should be proud.
