Hellstorm Apocalypse is a duo coming out of Australia's black and death metal scene and this is a review of the debut EP.The self titled debut consists of five tracks that are heavly influenced by the mid 90's black and death metal scene and this is not a bad thing at all.Doomsayer handles the instruments except for the drums and does a great job of writing both extremely chaotic black and death metal.Their are also some slower almost melodic passages with synth's being used. Each of the five tracks are well constructed and delievered with a mix of extremely fast and chaotic passages and some slower more well performed patterns. The vocals are also handled by Doomsayer and are a mix of raw raspy black metal screeches and screams.Their are also some deeper death metal growls used throughout the songs for a nice mix of vocals. The drums are done by HellAeon and are violent blasting drums that are played with speed and aggression. The drums do slow to a more mid paced style throughout the songs to give each song a nice balance between the sheer vicious blast beats and the more mid paced passages.Hellstorm Apocalypse's debut is a great debut that is rooted in the 90's style of black and death metal with some melodic elements to give the release a unique sound and apporach.
