California's Imperialist return with their third full length Prime. I haven't heard the bands previous work so i can't say any differences.But the music on Prime is traditional and cold black metal with some well performed musicial passages.The guitars are played wit fast guitars that are done with skillful writing.The guitars for the most part are fast paced but do have some very original sounding passages entertwined into the songs.The drums are played with a mix of extremely fast paced drum parts.But the drummer does write and execute some memorable drum passages.The vocals are grim and raw black metal gruff growls and screams.As i said at the beginning Prime is my first time listening to Imperialist but if you are fan of well composed and performed traditional black metal you won't be disapointed with Prime.
