Interview with Grima done by Patrick
1.Hello Morbius and Vilhelm please introduce yourselfs to the readers and when did you two first meet each other?
Greetings! We're Grima - a black metal act from deep forests of Siberia. We cannot be called a band in it's classiс understanding, but we prefer to call ourselves a Duo. We are bonded not only in music, but in blood, as we're twin brothers, who started their musical path toghether many years ago.
2.What gave you two the idea to start Grima and how did you all choose the name of the band? For the readers who have never heard Grima's music how would you best describe the musicial style?
We came up with the idea of a forest spirit, a suprime god who carries those who lives in the woods, and punishes those who don't respect his kingdom. We're always wanted to play that kind of music that would reflect dark and cold of our motherland. That's why we use folk motives in our music, as it helps to the magic to appear.
3.Grima is getting ready to release their second full length through Germany's Naturmacht Prod. how did you come in contact with this label?
After we recorded our first longplay, we were searching for a good label to release it, as it is important for us to see the album released not only via internet, but also on CD's. Naturmacht is a label that specifies on music similar to ours, and that made us a part of a community.
4.Do you both work on the music or does one member usually write everything? How long does it usually take to finish one song?
As composers and studio musicians we work equally, it concerns the recording of guitars and the writing of arrangements. For the final record we sometimes involve our friends-musicians, for example, the accordion on our second album was recorded by a musician from the Krasnoyarsk State Philharmonic, and the final keyboard parts were played by the talented Valentina Astasheva from a local band called Eoront.
Otherwise, we recording and mixing everything by ourselves. Basically, we compose music at the time of recording, the process can take from a few days to a month. We grew up a lot as composers working on the second album, as it took as a while to record it. The creative process of our second album began in the summer of 2015, most of it was composed and recorded in a forest cabin in the vastness of the boundless taiga.
5. Vilhelm you take care of the vocals for the band so I figure you write the lyrics for the music what are some subjexts you wrote about on Tales Of The Enchanted Woods?
Tales Of The Enchanted Woods 2 текста написал наш хороший друг Huethoth, The Grif и Ritual. Tales Of The Enchanted Woods
Usually, I write all the texts, but on Tales Of The Enchanted Woods there were 2 texts written by our
good friend Huethoth, these are The Greif and Ritual. All the texts are telling about the forests that surrounding our concrete cities with its huge massifs. There is a primal purity and unity with the earth remains. Tales Of The Enchanted Woods describes the terrible images that have arisen in the dark corners of our native land. There is a cave not so far from our hometown(City of Krasnoyarsk), where archaeologists proved that there were cannibals living about 5000 years ago, whose customs included ritual burnings and bloodletting. The song Ritual is about that place. Afterall, all the lyrics are connected with Grima, the master of forest.
6.Besides the new cd coming out do you all have any copies of the debut still available and if yes where can the readers buy it?Besides the physical cd's does the band have any other merchandise at this time?
At the moment, we still have a small number of our first album physical copies. With the release of the second album we started selling digital and physical copies on our bandcamp, iTunes and google play. You can also buy our T-shirts on Naturmacht's webpage.
7. Morbius you take care of the guitars for the band at what age did you become interested in playing the guitars? Are you self taught or did you take lessons when first starting out?
I started to take an interest in guitars at the age of 14. When I was 15 my parents bought me my first electric guitar, a little later we started taking lessons from a familiar guitarist who played in a heavy metal band.
8.Who are some of your influences and favorite guitarists?Besides the guitars do you currently play any other instruments?
In my teens I was very inspired by Chuck Shuldiner, I think he has a unique musical thinking. I really liked Andy La Rocque of King Diamond. I listen to different genres of heavy music and I really love the sound of Korn, their guitar sound is very rich and varied.
9. Vilhelm you handle the vocals for the band when did you start singing and screaming? Is their anything special you do to keep your throat and voice healthy?
I've been doing this kind of singing for a very long time, since I was 12. I've always liked vocalists who perform their songs well in live. This obviously requires a certain skill. I do a lot of work on my vocals, in order to sound good. Luckly, I have never had a voice injury in my life.
10.Who are some of your favorite vocalists? Besides the vocals you also handle the keyboards when did you start playing the keyboards? Besides the vocals and keyboard do you currently play any other instruments?
I've always liked Jonathan Davis and Dany Filth of Cradle of Filth. In general, I like real vocalists who professionally work in the studio and live performances, such musicians prove to everyone that the screaming is not just a noise but an actuall style of singing. I do not know how to play keyboards, but I have some arranging skills. Although, I will not be able to perform the parts that are written on the albums in live, as they were recorded on synth by a very skillful musician. Also, the entire bass guitar on the first album and a few songs from the second were recorded by me.
11.Besides working in Grima do either of you currently play in any other bands or solo projects? If yes please tell the readers a little about them?
There's our main band called Ultar, we perform a lot and go on tours around Russia, not so long ago we released the first album and video.
12.Grima comes out of Russia's atmospheric black metal scene what is your opinion of the Russian black metal scene?
We have some good bands playing black metal here. Their greatest concentration is situated in Siberia. In my opinion the creativity of our colleagues is very expressive. However, itt is very difficult to say something about the Russian metal scene in general. Cooperation among the musicians is not particularly developed, there is often a bitterness, which is exacerbated by dissatisfaction with one's own musical activity. In provincial cities, the culture of gigs is dramatically low and dying, so do the capitals. Young listeners massively lacking a taste and understanding of art in general, absorbing all the trendy garbage that gaines its mass in the social networks, which attract a lot of brainless teenagers who distribute viral dummies that have nothing to do with music and art. There is lousy respect for almost any kind of heavy music, very few people support bands buying CDs and merchandise. Attendance at gigs is depressing. But many bands, are trying to make their best to become better musicians despite all this stuff. We have very good artists that the whole world should know about. We want our music to be heard by as many people as possible.
13.Who are your all-time favorite Russian bands and are their any new bands you think the readers should watch out for?
Ultar. I would advise to pay attention to such bands as Eoront, Solarfall, культура курения and our main band Ultar.
14When not working on new music or band business what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
We're majorly not doing anything except for the music. Creativity is the main activity for us. We both have an art education, and when there is an inspiration, we love to draw gloomy graphic images, but so far we have not started to take it seriously. Of course, we both love nature and try to spend time in the forest or travel along the rivers.
15.Thank you Vilhelm and Morbius for taking the time to fill this interview out do you have any final words for the readers?
Follow the development of our project, support the performers that you like and take care of the nature.

Interview with Maim done by Patrick
1.Hello Christian and Henric please introduce yourselves to the readers and when did you two first meet each other?
Hello! We met 10 years ago in our hometown called Åtvidaberg. With the intension to play heavy music together. We liked the same bands and had the same vision and thoughts about our sound. Soon enough we formed the death metal institution called Maim together with Rikard Ottosson and Joakim Andersson.
2.Was it long before you two started the band? And has Maim always been a two man band or would you like to add more members someday?
We were four-piece band from the beginning. But over time Joakim left the band, because he moved to Stockholm and could not find the time to rehearse, and we carried on as a three piece band. And later on Rikard decided to leave the band since he became a father and also couldn’t find time for the band. Then we decided to carry on writing music and record another album all by ourselves. When the album was recorded, we recruited our long-time friend Niclas Löfgren on bass for live shows. We now consider him as a full-time member of Maim and we will continue as a three piece
3.Ornaments Of Severity is Maim's third release to date do you both work on writing the music or does one member usually write everything?
We both contribute with riffs and ideas
4.Besides Ornaments Of Severity are any of the bands previous releases still available for the readers to buy? Besides physical releases does the band have any other merchandise available if yes what is available and where can the readers buy it?
The first 2 albums i think are all sold out I'm afraid. But you can get the EP from NoPosersPlease.com, or buy it directly from us via maimmerchandise.bigcartel.com along with t-shirts and longsleeves.
5.In your opinion what is the best and worst thing about the metal underground today? And what does underground metal mean to you two?
The best thing about the metal underground today is that it is so easy to connect with other bands. The internet has made it possible for bands to share ideas and create their own tours without some greedy managers by their side. And today dedicated underground music festivals are rising everywhere. The worst thing about the underground today would be that a lot of bands try to make a hype out of themselves. They release 3 official music videos before the actual release, and post hundreds of Facebook statuses to get as many likes as possible. And then they go on tour to play for 10 people in the crowd. Underground music for me is to defy trends and stick to your guns.
6. Christian you take care of the vocals when did you start growling? And do you do anything special to keep your throat and voice healthy?Who are some of your favorite vocalists?
I think I never have growled before. This album is my first attempt. I did some screams on ’With Dawn Comes Death’ but thats it. When I was working night shifts at a factory, I used to go outside for my rounds and just scream my lungs out for practise. All alone with heavy machines surrounding me. I guess it must have sound quite frightening if someone ever heard me. Orange juice works good to
7.Besides taking care of the vocal duties you also handle the guitars for the band when did you first become interested in playing the guitars? Are you self taught or did you take lessons when first starting out?
I started playing guitar when I was 12 years old. I borrowed my grandmothers old acoustic guitar and tried to learn how to work it. One night I laid the guitar on the floor and went to bed. When i woke up I stepped right through it and crushed it. Thats when I decided to buy an electric guitar. When I was 16 I went to music school for 3 years.
8.Who are some of your influences and favorite guitarists?Other then playing the guitars and growling do you currently play any other instruments?
I was an early Slayer fan and still is. And that band really did an impact on me as a teenager. So I would say that Jeff Hanneman is my favorite guitar player. I spent hours and hours playing Slayer riffs back in the days. I also play the bass in another band and on ’Ornaments of Severity’
9.Henric you handle the drums for the band when did you become interested in playing the drums? Are you self taught or did you have lessons when first starting out?
I’m self taught and i started to play the drums when i was 14
10.Who are some of your favorite drummers? Besides the drums do you currently play any other instruments?
One of my favorite drummers is Morgan Ågren, he’s unbelievable behind the kit. I also get a lot of inspiration from Vinnie Colaiuta. I also play guitar and some bass. Usually when i’m alone in the rehearsal room recording new ideas
11.Is Maim the only band you two work in or do you play in any other bands? Please tell the readers a little about the other bands you work with?
I play bass in Ocean Chief, a Swedish doom band that has been around for over 15 years. I joined them on guitar about 5 years ago but nowadays i play bass live for the band. Henric has currently no other side projects
12.Maim comes out of the Swedish death metal scene what is your opinions of the Swedish metal scene over the years?
It has been a bit dry for some years i think. Not that many Swedish bands has got my attention. Im not really into the HM-2 sound. TEMISTO did an awesome debut and VANHELGD has always released quality stuff
13.Who are your all-time favorite Swedish band s and are their any new bands you feel the readers should check out soon?
I think both Henric and I can agree on VOMITORY. We always have been influenced by them and still are. Their riffs and songwriting are superior. As for new bands i strongly recommend RUDE from USA. Total Altars of Madness worship done in the right way
14.Besides bands are their any honest and reliable labels or distro's you could recommend?
I would recommend Blood Harvest for extreme and raw music
15.Christian, Henric when not working on new music or band business what do you two enjoy doing in your free time?
We both share the same interests and in the free time we are mostly listening to music, watching movies, going to concerts, talking about new records. We also like to be outdoors and to travel. Henric likes to go on wandering trips and go skiing and i like to be out fishing and to travel when i have time
16.Thank you for taking the time to fill this interview out do you have any final words for the readers?
We want to thank you and all of you guys out there whom has supported us through the years. Keep real metal alive, Cheers!

Interview with Chase vocalist of Terrifier done by Patrick
1. Hello Chase how are things going with you these days? Please introduce yourself to the readers?
C: Hey guys my names Chase and I sing for Terrifier.
2.When did you first discover thrash metal and who were some of the first bands you listened to? Who are some of your current favorite bands ?
C: The first time I ever heard metal was in grade six, this guy brought in his brother’s Metallica’s “Ride The Lightning” CD. The obsession basically started from there. On to Slayer, Exodus and Pantera etc.
3.When did you first meet the other members of the band and was it long before you all started Terrifier?
C: Rene and I answered an ad in a guitar shop looking for other musicians to jam with. We met up and jammed on Master of Puppets all the way through and decided to learn more covers to play and eventually we started writing originals.
4..What is the current line-up of the band and for the readers who have never heard Terrifier's music how would you best describe the music?
C: We got Rene Wilkinson on lead guitar, Kyle Shepard on drums, Brent Gallant on the other lead guitar, Alex Giles on bass and myself on vocals. I would say we're technical melodic thrash if I had to narrow it down.
5.Weapons Of Thrash Destruction is the band’s newest release how long did it take the band to write the music for this release?
C- It was quite a few years of riffs kicking around before we pieced it all together.
6.Chase you take care of the vocals for the band so I figure you write the lyrics for the music what are some topics you wrote about on the new release?
C- My lyrical ideas come from books, movies, history and sometimes I'm just making stuff up off of a cool song title I'll come up with.
7.Besides Weapons Of Thrash Destruction does the band have any other releases or merchandise available for the readers? If yes what is available and where can the readers buy it?
C- Yes we have our first album Destroyers of the Faith and our Metal or Death E.P. Both are available on CD Baby for online order.
8. Terrifier recently had a small tour in April in support of the new release how do you feel the tour went? Who were some bands you had the pleasure to share the stage with?
C- It went really well actually, we had a lot of fun and met some amazing people. WMD from Calgary are some really awesome thrashers. Aiomon from Nelson are really killer too!
9.Are there any more tours or shows planned this year in support of Weapons Of Thrash Destruction ? If yes where will the band be playing?
C- We want to head down through California and shred it up with some bands down that way. It would be super kick ass to play the Bay Area.
10.Chase you take care of the vocals when did you first start screaming and growling? Do you do anything special to keep your throat and voice healthy?
C- I believe I was 18 when I started singing. I played bass and sang for many years. The new album is the first time you can hear me just focus on vocals. I basically just sing songs from bands I like to stay in shape.
11.Who are some of your favorite vocalists? Besides vocals do you play any other instruments?
C- I would say old school James Hetfield, Hansi from Blind Guardian, Phil Anselmo, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson. There's way more, it's just hard to think of them on the spot. I play bass as well. Cliff Burton, Tom Araya, Steve Harris, Billy Sheehan these are a few bass influences.
12.Other then playing in Terrifier do you or any of the members currently play in any other bands?
C- Actually they all do hahaha every one but me :)
13.When not working on new music or band business what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Paragon Records News about their newest releases
Buckshot Facelift [USA] - Ulcer Island CD DeathMetal/Grindcore!!! One of Long Island NY'S best kept secrets and one of it's most extreme , and the first time they have collaborated with Paragon Records! After their brilliant 2014 EP "Living Ghosts Of The North Shore" which is one of my favorite releases of that year, Buckshot strike even harder with their fourth full length!!! This is yet another proud moment for Paragon records to be working with another great band that has been honing their craft for over 14 years now and a perfect example that their is fresh blood on Long Island with Buckshot Facelift being one of the forerunners!!! This a concept album! The first time the band has ever done one and sees the band taking their style of music to a further realm of maturity, originality, and extremity. To describe their music simple you could say it's Grindcore and maybe this fits with the more earlier material but this is not accurate and short sighted and even more so as the band has evolved over the years into a style that they have created all their own. Expect Hardcore, Power Violence, Death Metal, Black Metal, Grindcore [of course], acoustics, samples, atmospheric moments, and more..., that when it's all said an done you got Buckshot Facelift!!!!! Features members from Artificial Brain, Thaetas, & Grey Skies Fallen!!! Guests vocals by King Fowley of Deceased/October 31!!! DO NOT MISS OUT ON THE BAND TO EXTREME FOR THE METAL ARCHIVES!!!! OUT NOW!!!
Root [Czech Republic] - Madness Of The Graves Vinyl Re-release. The vinyl version will also features the same new cover art as the CD and will also include a patch and poster!!! Vinyl will be 180G and these will be strictly limited to 250 copies so do not miss out!!!! OUT NOW!!! SELECT TRADES ONLY!!!
Root [Czech Republic] Madness Of The Graves CD RE-RELEASE!!! Epic Dark Metal!!!!!
Though that is just a taste of what you will get! What is their really to say about a band like Root???!!! Their really is no one like them, maybe you could compare them to Master's Hammer but only because both bands are just so unique in their craft though neither band follow the same musical path. This is Root's long out of print 7th album that originally saw the light of day on cd in 2003, and later vinyl in 2004. Once again Root take their style further into more darker, creepier, and weirder realms!!! Their are many different elements on this record that only Root can deliver and though i have to say Kargeras [ which we re-released on CD in 2103] is probably still my personal favorite however Madness of The Graves is yet another Milestone in the bands career. So many bands get the phrase "cult" alongside the mention of their name these days however this is truly a band that defines the term!!!Nothing more needs to be said.

Interview with LoathFinder done by Patrick
Hello everyone. We’re Loathfinder and we play slow and dirty kind of blackened doom.
From the beginning there were four of us - four people who were influenced by different bands, but for sure we all appreciate Cough, YOB, Coffinworm, Urfaust, Pallbearer…
All lyrics are written by a guy who is screaming and spitting them out. Topics falls under an umbrella of negativity, but it’s not casual “feeling-bad” thing. It’s difficult to say more without literal explaining and we would suggest to hear or read lyrics and try to feel it by yourself.
At the moment EP is the only merchandise we have available. There are other things being prepared, but as we have nothing confirmed yet we will not reveal any details. Follow our Facebook page in order to keep up to date with the news to come.
It would be probably a long list but just to give you only couple of them as an example: Kobong, Furia, Death Like Mass, Ampacity, Odraza, Kriegsmaschine, Sui Generis Umbra, Doombringer, Hetzer, Stillborn, Witchmaster… Huge lost is that some of them are not active anymore. Trying to recall something “fresh” seems to be quite hard.
Yeah, each of us does something beside Loathfinder (other bands as well as solo projects) but we treat this band as priority and we focus mainly on this band right now.
Let’s just skip it. We don’t think it could be interesting enough for anybody… especially when at the end of the day it’s almost always all about music even if not in direct way.
Regards

Interview with LoathFinder done by Patrick
1.Hello please introduce yourselves to the readers?
Hello everyone. We’re Loathfinder and we play slow and dirty kind of blackened doom.
2.When did you first meet the other members of the band and was it long before you all started Loathfinder? How did you all come up with the name Loathfinder as the name of the band?
We met about two years ago and started forming band who after all has been named Loathfinder. During that time we were focused on writing material, polishing it and then recording it. The effects of our work can be heard on our first EP. At the very beginning we have been focused on music only but when it came up to choosing a name we considered two or three options to name ourselves. When one of us said “Loathfinder” we unanimously agreed that this is what fits best to what we play and what our lyrics are about.
3.What is the current line up for the band?Who are some of the bands biggest influences and for the readers who have never heard the bands music how would you best describe it?
From the beginning there were four of us - four people who were influenced by different bands, but for sure we all appreciate Cough, YOB, Coffinworm, Urfaust, Pallbearer…
Band’s sound - whatever you say - always results from inspirations, but it’s up to you how you combine and mix those. Sometimes it’s even surprising when in reviews of EP which we have already received people compare our sound to the bands which we have never listened to.
4.Loathfinder is getting ready to release the debut Mcd "The Great Tired Ones" how long did it take the band to write the music for this release?
It actually took us more time than we’ve expected and much more to record than to compose it but to be honest it was comfortable to work on it without unnecessary rush. The final effect is even beyond our first assumptions. At the beginning we’ve planned the material to be more demo-like, self-released in the Internet only. We got opportunity to make it more professional, so we took advantage of it.
5.Who usually takes care of writing the lyrics for the music and what are some topics the band writes about?
All lyrics are written by a guy who is screaming and spitting them out. Topics falls under an umbrella of negativity, but it’s not casual “feeling-bad” thing. It’s difficult to say more without literal explaining and we would suggest to hear or read lyrics and try to feel it by yourself.
6.Besides the debut Mcd "The Great Tired Ones" does the band have any other merchandise available for the readers? If yes what is available and where can the readers buy it?
At the moment EP is the only merchandise we have available. There are other things being prepared, but as we have nothing confirmed yet we will not reveal any details. Follow our Facebook page in order to keep up to date with the news to come.
7.Does Loathfinder play live very often or do you prefer working in the studio? Are their any upcoming shows or small tours the readers should watch out for?
We have decided not to play live until our material is finalized and recorded. For now we have one gig scheduled and it will take place on May 6th in Kraków, Poland. We are working on other dates, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
8. Loathfinder comes out of Poland's blackend doom metal scene what is your opinion of the metal scene in Poland these days?
Polish metal scene is strong for a long time and it seems it will be strong for years to come. First, and the most important thing, is that we have a big number of great bands. There are plenty of surroundings related to music, like journals, radio auditions, gigs. The only thing which is missing is a big metal festival, like for instance Brutal Assault. There were some attempts, but nothing really worked out.
9.Who are your all-time favorite Polish bands and are their any new bands you feel the readers should watch out for?
It would be probably a long list but just to give you only couple of them as an example: Kobong, Furia, Death Like Mass, Ampacity, Odraza, Kriegsmaschine, Sui Generis Umbra, Doombringer, Hetzer, Stillborn, Witchmaster… Huge lost is that some of them are not active anymore. Trying to recall something “fresh” seems to be quite hard.
10.Besides working in Loathfinder do any of the members currently play in any other bands or solo projects?
Yeah, each of us does something beside Loathfinder (other bands as well as solo projects) but we treat this band as priority and we focus mainly on this band right now.
11.When not working on new music or band business what do you like to do in your free time?
Let’s just skip it. We don’t think it could be interesting enough for anybody… especially when at the end of the day it’s almost always all about music even if not in direct way.
12.Thank you for taking the time to fill this interview out do you have any final words for the readers?
If you got to this point, probably you have already listened to our music - if so, there is nothing else to add which would be more important than that. Hails.

Interview with Pedra vocalist of Grog done by Patrick
1.Hello Pedra please introduce yourself to the readers and at what age did you discover metal music?
Hi Patrick, first up thanks a lot for giving us the chance to promote Grog and our new album "Ablutionary Rituals".
I am the band vocalist since its origin and we started in 1991 so it has been a long ride till today. We are from Portugal and play what you could say death grind.
My path into metal begun 31 years ago, yes I am that old, so I was a teenager with 16 years old eager to discover the music of my life.
2.Who were some of the first bands you listened to and who are some of your current favorite bands?
Well I started with some hard rock bands back then like AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Ratt, Europe, Motley Crue but with time I went on discovering Iron Maiden, Wasp and Motorhead
for example. In the 80's we had a lot of metal radio shows so as I discovered then I begun listening speed, thrash, black, grindcore and death metal bands form that time. Many of them still currently exist so it's easy for me to say that I went down to the bottom of almost everything heavy metal had to offer. Nowadays I still love to hear the classics from that time like Immolation, Suffocation, Napalm Death, Autopsy, Agathocles, Deranged, Sinister, Avulsed but also new bands like
Benighted, Unfathomable Ruination, Defeated Sanity, Wormed and so on...
3.Grog was formed back in 1991 what gave you all the idea to start this band? What is the current line up of the band?
The idea came from a group of friends that were also into metal and punk actually. There's always that time that you want to learn how to play and create your own music I guess so we talked and decided to try our shot at doing our own musical vision. I never thought I would be involved in it to be honest but here I am after 26 years as the only active founding member. The current line-up is pretty solid since many years and along with me we have Ivo on guitar, Rolando playing drums and Alex filling the bass.
4.How would you say Grog's music has changed over the years and who are some of the bands that influenced Grog's sound?
When we started we were more into grindcore but then we begun to include death metal influences and from that moment till the present we still do it. We try to evolve and reach new ideas and levels of intensity within our sound every time we work on a new release. This is what motivates us to keep on going since we don't want to sound the same every time we release a new record. The first two albums we released have different line ups so naturally they sound different. There a lot of ideas
that belong to the previous members that define the style of music we did. After those releases we managed to stabilize the line up and begun to grow more as a collective and each time we work in new ideas we try to surpass the previous ones never the less we are able to sound like Grog and have our own identity as a band. The influences are obvious I think since death metal and grindcore have their icons very well defined still we aren't interested on copy then but instead creating our own music so if you wanna relate us with the bands I spoke before it's ok for us.
5.Grog is getting ready to release their fourth full-length "Ablutionary Rituals" how long did it take the band to write the music for the new songs? Does the whole band work on the music or does one member usually write everything?
The new album took us 4 years to write and we work as team though the songs are brought mostly by Ivo and Alex. When the ideas are presented to the rest of the band myself and Rolando give our contribution and then we decide if it's a clean go or if we improve or remove what doesn't make sense.
6.Who usually takes care of writing the lyrics and what are some topics you all wrote about on the new release?
I handle all lyrics in the band since ever. The new album reaches a new approach on the theme we always explored which is the dark side of the human mind. The main difference within "Ablutionary Rituals" was that we begun to focus on the personal aspects related with the human shadow instead of dwelling on the external deviations and sickness/gore of the behavior itself. On this record we try to explain the origin of human darkness, why does it exists, what influences have for us and what are the possible lessons that we can take from its presence in our soul, body and ethereal dimensions.
7.Besides the new release "Ablutionary Rituals" are any of the bands past releases still available for the readers to buy? Besides the releases does the band have any other merchandise available and if yes what is available and where can the readers buy it?
We have all our releases available for digital download at our bandcamp but the older ones are if not almost sold out. Concerning merch we have new items available for the new album. I advise all to check us up at our bandcamp and facebook pages to get more information. I leave you the addresses grogpt.bandcamp.com/ and facebook.com/grogpt/.
8.As mentioned Grog has been active in the scene since the early 90's what have been the bands most memorable shows over the years and who have been some of the bands you have shared the stage with?
Quiet difficult to answer that one you know since all gigs are different and have their own kind of magic. Also as you can image we played a great amount of shows since we started so I consider all shows important even the one that weren't so great at the end. We played with almost Portuguese bands like Decayed, Holocausto Canibal, Analepsy, Raw Decimating Brutality and so on like we also shared stage with Cannibal Corpse, Immolation, Broken Hope, Disgorge, Suffocation, Avulsed,
Sinister, Dead Infection, Benighted for instance.
9.Are their any upcoming shows or tours in support of the new release? If yes where will the band be playing?
We are booking some shows mainly for Portugal and we also have a gig in Austria this year.
10.Pedra you and the band have been active in the underground since the early 90's were you ever into tape-trading back then?
Sure I did a lot of tape trading back in the days and I still keep all letters with me. It's like the 80's/90's underground milestone and I have the most special memories from those days when you had to handwrite every single letter you received. I knew a lot of people and bands that way and also the feeling of receiving mail at home was tremendously exciting.
11.Besides tape trading did you read a lot of fanzines back in the day what were some of your favorite fanzines to read? In your eyes what made a good fanzine?
I was a teen back then so there wasn't much income to buy zines but we shared a lot information between friends and along that came the fanzines especially Portuguese ones. For a young kid finding new bands was enough so all fanzines mattered because I would devour them letter by letter.
12.Grog comes out of Portugal's death metal scene what is your opinion of the metal scene in Portugal over the years?
We have evolved a lot. Today we have a healthy scene in all genres and I should say that Portuguese bands aren't inferior to the rest of bands in the world.
13.Who are your all time favorite bands from Portugal? And are their any new bands coming out of Portugal that you feel the readers should check out soon?
Decayed, Evisceration, Desire, Thormenthor, Namek, Sacred Sin for example on the oldschool side. New ones I should recomend Switchtense, Vai-te Foder, Analepsy, Grunt...
14.Besides bands are their any honest and reliable labels or distro's you can recommend to the readers?
Yes, absolutely, we have Helldprod Records, Altare Productions, Raging Planet, Chaosphere Records, Signal Rex, Caverna Abismal, Vomit Your Shirt, Larvae Productions, Lusitania, Rastilho among others.
15.What does underground metal mean to you?
Underground is not being mainstream, this is the easiest way to explain it. Underground has a lot of DIY attitude and fuck the rest although you can find also some examples in major music industry but in a completely different approach.
16.When not working on new music or band business what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Play with my kid, to rest, being with friends, going to shows...
17.Thank you Pedra for taking the time to fill this interview out do you have any final comments for the readers before we end this interview?
Thanks once again for your support Patrick and to all your readers check us out in grogpt.bandcamp.com/ and facebook.com/grogpt/. Grind Up!

Interview with Obscura Amentia done by Patrick
1.Hails Hel and Black Charm please introduce yourselves to the readers? When did you two first meet each other?
Hail Patrick! First of all thanks for the interview, we met more than ten years ago and a day we decided to try to write a song; the result was our 1st album "The Darkest Dream". Hel is a female screamer, fan of all the extreme scene and of the Doom atmospheres; Black Charm is a multi-instrumentalist that loves the Depressive and the Avantgarde scene, the Death Metal and all the good music also over the Metal.
2.When did you two get the idea to start Obscura Amentia ?And how did you all choose the name Obscura Amentia does it have a special meaning?
The project began after some sessions, the first ideas were a bit confused but we have always been interested to the human pain. "Obscura Amentia" for us is the seed of evil, the madness that lurks inside every human being, one of our human instincts.
3.Black Charm you take care of writing the music for the band when did you become interested in writing and playing music?
Since adolescence, I've always been fascinated by the world of music and by the way in which it can express themselves, therefore, immediately after learning to play the guitar, my first instrument, I started writing some songs (like all musicians, I think) and after several years and as many collaborations, I'm joined to this project.
4.What instruments do you play and are their any new instruments you would like to learn one day?
Guitar, bass and sometimes the keyboard. I'm currently very interested in some Asian stringed instruments, but unfortunately I have not yet managed to try them, maybe in the future I will be able to use them in some music tracks.
5.Hel you handle the vocals for the band when did you start singing and screaming?Do you do anything special to keep your voice and throat healthy?
I start to sing with clean vocals several years ago in a heavy metal band, over time I learned how to modulate my voice to sing in scream. About the healthy of my voice I do not do anything particularly special, I regularly practice sports and yoga to improve breathing.
6.Who are some of your influences and favorite vocalists?
Some of the vocalists that I like very much are Jennie-Ann Smith from Avatarium, Selvans Haruspex from Selvans, Jake Superchi from Uada and Daevas from Secrets Of The Moon but I'm influenced by no one.
7.Obscura Amentia is getting ready to release their third cd "The Art Of The Human Decadence" How long did it take you Black Charm to write the music for this release? And for the readers who have never heard Obscura Amentia's music how would you say it has changed over the years?
It took about 3 years to write the music for it, also due to some unforeseen breaks, hoping to be more fast the next time. What is changed? We are consolidating into our sound the influences Depressive and Doom at our Atmospheric Black Metal. At first our sound was a kind of Raw Atmospheric Black Metal.
8.Hel I know you also take care of writing the lyrics what were some of the subjects you wrote about on "The Art Of The Human Decadence"?
The release tells about the illness of a tired mankind suffering the pains given birth to the modern era and the decadence generate from the progress which deprives the human being from all emotions except that anguish.
9.Obscura Amentia comes out of the Italian black, doom metal scene what is your opinion of the metal scene in Italy these days?
Obviously in this internet era everything is very different from the past: lately there are many interesting musical proposals and it’s true that a new band can introduce their music to a huge audience, but we think that compared to the past, the scene, and more specifically the underground, is not supported properly and is slowly dying; currently it’s difficult to speak about a real scene.
10.Who are your all-time favorite Italian bands? Are their any new bands you feel the readers should check out soon?
Novembre... new bands? We're not dated enough to be able to give such advice.
11.I know that Obscura Amentia is a two person band would you like to add more members to make a full band or do you prefer to work as a two person band?
We prefer to work like now: it's more personal, intense, like a ritual.
12.Besides working in Obscura Amentia do either of you work with any other bands or solo projects?
Currently we're totally focused only on Obscura Amentia; it's more of a project, it's almost a comparison with our more hidden side.
13.When not working on new music or band business what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Literature, art and science, and, whenever it’s possible, we try to get away from the town to spend some time in nature.
14.Thank you Hel and Black Charm for taking the time to fill this interview out do you have any final words to end the interview?
It's a pleasure reply to your questions, we love to give info about our creature! We advice to all the readers to give a listen to "The Art Of The Human Decadence"!
