1.Hails  When  did  you  all  meet? Was  it  long before  you  all  formed  Sacrilegious  Impalement    ? How  did  you  all  come  up  with  the  name  for the  band?

 Hells! Pretty boring and normal route of forming a band to tell actually, I don´t know how the hell other bands allways have fullmoons and werewolves and goblins lurking in the shadows and all, ours wasn´t like that. It was in late 2005 when I decided it is time to put this idea of band I´ve had in mind for years in action. I was already playing in Evil Angel, but I needed a bit more. At around that time Kaosbringer moved to my hometown Lahti. I already knew him from Neutron Hammer and I was impressed about the vocal range he could pull after seeing Neutron Hammer playing at a local bar. We started to speak about music and bands at Toolouds home where we were having few drinks. I told that I was starting a band and looking for a vocalist. Luckily Kaosbringer was looking for a band too from Lahti. We spoke about the directions and ambitions and had mutual interests how to work a black metal band. For few first years it was just us and session drummers. Tooloud, also from Evil Angel, came later to play bass. Revenant came in as a permanent drummer in 2009 or 2010 and has been a big part of the work since.

I came up with the name.

 

 

 

 

2.What   is  the  current  line-up  of   Sacrilegious  Impalement    ? The  band  formed  in  2006  how  do  you  feel    Sacrilegious  Impalement´s    music  has  changed  since you  all formed the  band?

 

 Wrathprayer - Vocals, Impaler Von Bastard - Guitars, Tooloud - Bass, Revenant - Drums, Asassin - Guitar (live). We are now playing live with Kaosbringer again, atleast for few gigs. How the music have changed? You tell me! I have always tried to write the next song a bit different than the previous and sometimes they vary so much we almost cannot speak about a same band, you know. Like from "II - Exalted Spectres", just compare songs like "Blessed to Resist" to "Aletheia" to "Grand Funeral Convoy". Ofcourse every vocalist have had different impact on our music as I have kept in mind what kind of songs would suit them when writing the music.

 

 

 

 

3. Sacrilegious  Impalement    recently  released  a  cd  through  Black  Plague Rec  and  Satanath Rec.  titled  "First  Three  Nails"  which  contains  your  early  demo's.How  did you  and  the  labels  decide to release  the early  demo's   onto  one cd?

 We were playing in St.Petersburg, Russia a while ago and there I met the owner of Satanath Records (rus). He wanted to release a compilation of our old out of press/sold out records in one CD and I had nothing against doing it. Later on Desert of Death (rus) and Black Plague Records (us) were involved too. 

 

 

 

 

4.Besides  the  new  cd  "First  Three  Nails"   does  the  band  have   any  other  merchandise  available  for the  readers? If  yes   where  can  the  fans  buy  it  from?

5.Does  Sacrilegious  Impalement    play  very  many  "live"  shows  or  do you  prefer  to  work  in  the  studio? Who  are  some  bands  you  all  have  shared  the  stage  with?

 We play time to time. Tomorrow (15.8.2015) we´ll headline Rooster Deathfest and 28.8. we´ll play with The Crescent and Devouring Star etc. at Tampere Death Mass. Death all the way.

The bands we have played with? Uh, too many to mention all but here´s few: NECROS CHRISTOS (ger), KILL (swe), VENOM (uk), CANDLEMASS (swe), HELL (uk), GORGOROTH (no), WATAIN (swe), VON (usa), DEVIL´S BLOOD (ned), DEMONICAL (swe), ONDSKAPT (swe), SHINING (swe),VORKREIST (fra) SADISTIC GRIMNESS (swe),  ENTOMBED (swe), The CROWN (swe), GESTALTE (nl),  LAST WORD (rus), KHAOS LABYRINTH (rus), BEHEMOTH (pol), W.A.S.P. 6. What   have  been  some  of your   most  memorable  shows  to date? Has   Sacrilegious  Impalement    ever  played  outside  of  Finland? If  yes  where?

So many memorable, but I´ll share these. We were asked to replace MARDUK as a headliner of FireBox Metal fest III in 2010. MARDUK had to cancell becouse the volcano erupted in Iceland and the ash in the air over Europe forced the aeroplains to stay in ground. Well anyway, we had to take this gig in few hours and we managed to get there to play. After the gig we went to the backstage and there was a full fight going on with many people just fighting around the place. Pigs blood got mixed with human blood..

A month ago we were playing at Pori and we were shouted to come back for encore. We went back to the stage and started to play. The audience went crazy with "Behead the Infants of god" and then I saw that a fucking Jack Sparrow impersonator came to the stage. Few moments and I saw him back in the audience having his ass kicked by the others. 

Not so many abroad gigs yet, London and St.Petersburg.

 

 

7.What   does  Black Metal   mean  to  you?

 It is the art which I can relate and channel my work from the unknown the most. Rebel spirit.

 

 

 

 

8.Sacrilegious  Impalement    comes  out  of  Finlands  black  metal  scene what  is  your   opinion  of  Finland's  black  metal  scene?

 

I´ve heard that the people who declared that the scene died in the 90´s are still sceneing about it.

 

 

9.Who  are   your  all-time  favorite  Finnish  bands?  Are their  any  new   bands  you  feel  the  readers should  check  out  soon?

 Pretty much all the bands I listed earlier and ARCHGOAT, MUSTA SURMA, FLAME, PEER GÜNT, MOOTTORILINNUT, SLEEPY SLEEPERS.. Too many again.  Check out KYY.

11.Are  you   or  any  of the   members   of   Sacrilegious  Impalement    currently  working  with   other  bands or  solo-projects?

 - With Evil Angel we have recorded new full-lenght. First one since 2006 actually. And then we (I & Revenant) have this new thing coming which is going to be something I am really looking forward to. Stay tuned for the announcement.

 

 

 

 

 

12.Besides  writing  and  performing   music  what  do  you  enjoy  doing   in your  free time?

 - Good food, movies, traveling, reading. Normal stuff.  I collect Verotik comics, books about real vampirism and werewolves cases, medieval, witchcraft and occultism, old finnish myths. Books about Vlad Drăculea, Erzsébet Báthory etc.

Thank you. Our previous label Hammer of Hate have just released thru KVLT a compilation of exclusive songs recorded just for this compilation. We have a song called "Welcome Labyrinthian" featured. It was recorded in 2012 and it was the last recordings of Hellwind Inferion with the band. Besides us, there´s exclusive songs from Behexen, Enochian Crescent, Azaghal and many more. 1.Hails    Lord   Dakkar    please   introduce  yourself  to  the  readers?


Hey there! Here´s Dakkar from NARBELETH, writing from Havana, Cuba.







2.When did you  first  discover  metal?Who  were  some  of the  first  bands you   listened  to? Who  are some  of your   current  favorite  bands?


I discovered Metal when I was in high school, thanks to a friend who gave me some tapes. Just few years later I was introduced into Black Metal thanks to Darkthrone´s “Under a Funeral Moon” and Immortal´s “Diabolical FullmoonMysticism ”. Mentioning some favorite bands is not easy job, as there are a lot of bands I enjoy a lot, but, for all times, bands like Darkthrone, Arckanum, Judas Iscariot, Bathory, Burzum are among the ones for me.






3.What  gave  you  the  idea  to form    Narbeleth  ?How  did  you  choose the  name  for the  band  does  it   have  a special  meaning?


  I formed Narbeleth back in 2008, when I was playing guitar in my previous band Ancestor. We played a sort of Black Metal with some sparkles of thrash or heavy, and I wanted to do also something more, grim, colder, and personal, so I deceided to create Narbeleth. The name came from Tolkien literature, and design a period of time when the sun disappear.





4.  Narbeleth  is  getting  ready  to  release  their  third  cd releases  titled  "Through Blackness And Rmote  Places"  through  Germany's  Folter  Rec.  how  did you  come  in  contact  with  this  great  label?


  I made contact with Folter about 3 years ago, when I send a promo in order to be considered for Under the Black Sun festival. And it happened, and Folter became interested in releasing my music, and here we are.




5.How    long  did  it  take  you  to  write  and record the  songs  for  this  release?Where  do  you  draw   inspiration  for  the   lyrics?What  are  some  subjects you  write  about?


 I composed all in about a year, maybe less… as I begun to compose in august 2014 and finished in march 2015 more or less. My inspiration comes from Black Metal, and how this art helps me to deal with the routine, and how it is like a filter between the world and my inner universe. The lyrics usually are about this, and my own experiences in life. Sometimes I deal with other matters, esoteric and occult themes.  




6.Besides  the   new  cd  coming   out  through  Folter Rec.  does the   band  have  any  other  releases  or  merchandise   available  for  the  fans?If  yes  where  can  they  buy  your   merchandise?



 Yes, the previous 2 albums are also available at Folter Records, as well as “A hatred Manifesto” t shirts. You also can found the first demo in tape version at Intifernal records I think, or can also try other underground mailorders. But I think it can be available. Also the tape version of “DiabolusIncarnatus” by Serpent´s Eye Records I think it still available.






7. Lord   Dakkar    you   come  out  of the Cuban Metal  scene  what  is your  opinion of  cuba'sblack,death metal scene?


  In general the extreme metal scene in Cuba has been always “big” considering that we are an island in the Caribbean Sea with no tradition of metal at all. At the end of the 90s and beginning of 2000s the extreme metal scene grew up, and a lot of extreme metal bands were born, but few of them remained active, and these days there is a lot of new bands with modern shits.




8.Who  are  some  of your  all-time  favorite  Cuban  bands?Are  their  any  new  bands  you  feel  the  readers  should  check  out? 


Ah, good one… for meZeus and Combat Noise. Those are old bands that still active. About new ones, worth to check Blackult.




9. Lord   Dakkar     you   handle  the  vocals  for  Narbeleth   when  did  you  start  singing/screaming? Do  you  do  anything  special  to  keep  your  throat and  voice   healthy?


  I began to scream when I recorded the first NARBELET. Before that, I just did some back vocals in my previous band, but nothing big. Before sing, I just do some warm up before singing, that´s all.





10.Who   are  some  of your  influences/favorite   vocalist?


 NocturnoCulto, main influence and favorite. Legion, Akhenaten, Mannevond.Shamatae, this last one not as direct influence, as my vocal style has nothing to do with his, but is one of my favorite vocalists. Also Hoest, Lord Sabathan,  Sorath… are vocalists I like. There are good amount of great vocalists out there… impossible to mention hehe…




11.Besides  the  vocals  you  also  handle  the  guitars  when  did you  become  interested  in  playing  the  guitars?Are  you  self-taught  or  did you  take  lessons?


 I play guitar since I was 13. I learned by myself and from friends. I  never took music lessons.



12.Who  are  some  of your  influences/favorite  guitarists? Besides  the  vocals  and  guitars  what  are some  of the  other  instruments you  play?Are  their  any  you  want  to  learn to  play?


I would like to learn to play bagpipe, but I need one and they are expensive as hell. About guitar, well actually one of the guitarists I used to learn from is Demonaz… when I was learning to play electric guitar, practicing tremolo picking as all that, I used to watch a lot of old IMMORTAL videos to see the way Demonaz played…




13.What   does  black  metal   mean  to you?


Black Metal means strength, commitment, dedication. It means strength to grow as individual, and to live in the society avoiding all the common lines of thinking  as if you are in other dimension,.




14.Besides   Narbeleth   are  you  currently  working  with   any  other  bands  or  solo  projects?If  yes  please  let  the  fans  know  about  them.

Indeed I´m working in other Black Metal project with King Abraxas, my live guitarist. It is called Despectum. We have nothing recorded yet, we are composing, but this is a long term thing. Also I´m composing for another project in a Blackened Thrash vein, but nothing consolidated yet.

1.Hello Mattias please introduce yourself to the readers?

 

Im a 35 year old male from Sweden that loves music, and mostly the slower part “Doom” of it or the faster “Black/Death”. I have played in Saturnus, Vanmakt, Istapp and Nidrike with others. Beside my fiance, music is what makes my life worth living. I live and breath music. I like honest and direct people. I dont like lying people, hypocrites or religions. I do not like anykind of violence! I see myself as a kind and thoughtful person that only wants to write music and enjoy life.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  2.When did you first become interested in playing and writing music? What were the first instruments you learned to play? Are you self taught or did you take some lessons when first starting out?

 

I have always been interested in and loved music, I have photos when Im a little kid playing with my Dads bassguitar. He couldnt play it though so I never learned how to at that time. It wasnt until I was 13-14 I was approached at schhool by some guys in the class under me. They asked me if I liked Metallica and if I wanted to sing in their band. I had never hold a mic in my life, but I said yes, and I was in my first band! The guitarist there Andreas Svensson (Kaptain Sun) became a very good friend of mine, and we spent basically all free time together, listening to music, watching videos etc. And since he always played the guitar while doing this I asked him to teach me. I didnt have a guitar at the time, but my parents bought me an acoustic one, but it was broken and couldnt be tuned so it wasnt fun to play on. BUT! My uncle Allan had an electric guitar that he didnt play on much, so I got to borrow it. And I guess it was love at first sight! Since then I havnt been able to stop playing!

 

I never liked practising scales and chords though, I just wanted to play. So I guess I started to write music right away without even knowing it.

 

I see myself as self taught, at least in the start. When I was 16-17 I went to a music high-school, and sure, I learned alot there, but it was only jazz and classical music, wich I at the time hated.

But the writing has always been there, I remember that I could sit for hours and just play, and if I did something I thought sounded nice I wrote it down on paper. I still have some stuff on paper from that time. Its not that good though haha

 

 

 

 

 

 

3.Who are some of your influences and favorite musicians?Are their any instruments you have not learned to play that you would like to learn someday? If yes what instruments are they?

 

Thats a massive question. I have alot of influences and favourite musicians. But the most influential musicians is: Ricardo Amorim (Moonspell), Greg Mackintosh (Paradise Lost) and Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth).

 

My most influential bands is: Anathema, My Dying Bride, Moonspell, Paradise Lost, Saturnus and Opeth.

 

Im actually gonna start learning the accordian. Both my granddads played the accordian and it would be amazing to be able to play the old songs they did when my family comes together.

 

 

 

4.When did you first get the idea to start Soijl? How did you come up with the name of the band.does it have a special meaning?   

 

Soijl has always been there I guess. I just havnt found the musicians since noone wants to play this kind of music where I live. Its to slow haha. But even if I did some stuff under the name Soijl in 2006-2008, Soijl didnt start for real until me and Henrik came together and decided to do something in 2014.

 

The name story is kinda funny. I wanted to call the band Soil, but since it was taken I just added a “j” so it became Soijl. It doesnt really mean anything, but we really like it. And the meaning of Soijl will be created by us and our fans. Soijl will mean the feelings we get when we write or listen to our music, and I like that!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5.When did you first meet Henrik{vocalist of Soijl} was it long before he joined the band?

 

I cant really remember the first time I met Henrik, but it was during high-school. We had some friends incommon and I guess we met at someones party, and since Henrik and I listened to basically the exact same bands we found eachother right away! I think I have known Henrik for at least half my life now. Henrik will be my bestman at my wedding next summer!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

6.Have you ever thought of adding more members to make Soijl a full band?Or do you prefer to work as a two person band?

 

Hehe, well, heres some breaking news! We have decided to recruit a drummer for the next album! But more about that will come soon. But I dont think we will ever be a full band. I like it as it is, that I write the music, Henrik the lyrics and then all of us comes with suggestions to make it better. But with a full band its just to many people that wants their opinion to be the right one, and since the music of Soijl is kind of my child I wouldnt like that. But at the same time it would be awesome to rehearse the songs and to play live sometimes. No tours though, Im done with that.

 

 

 

 

 

 

7. Soijl is getting ready to release the debut cd "Endless Elysian Fields" how long did it take you to write the music for this release?

 

Well, on the album theres some songs that are really, really old. But most of the songs are brand new. It took maybe 5-6 months to write the new songs on the album. The actual writing time though is maybe 2 weeks. I can only write when I have a certain feeling, and cant force it. So when I actually write it usually goes very fast but it can be a couple of days/or weeks in the middle where I basically write nothing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

8.I know Henrik writes the lyrics for the band do you help him at all with ideas? What are some topics Henrik writes about?

 

Not really, no I dont. Its all up to him, sure, if he asks me I help him, but so far he hasnt asked me.

 

On “Endless Elysian Fields” the bigger part of the lyrics is about mental illness and the people that suffers from it. It can be stories from the view of the person or the ones standing at the side, that tries to help.

 

 

 

 

 

9.Besides the debut cd "Endless Elysian Fields" does the band have any other merchandise available for the fans? If yes where can the fans buy it from?

 

Not at the moment, but we will see what happens in the future.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

10. Mattias you live in the great country of Sweden what is your opinion of the Swedish metal scene?

 

Its as amazing as always I think. Theres new bands popping up everyday, and even though we dont have many metal gigs and no metal at all on the radio we continue to make great music!

Sure, theres alot of crappy bands as well, but it still amazes me that theres so many good bands in this small country.

 

 

 

11.Who are your all-time favorite Swedish bands? Are their any new bands you feel the readers should check out?

 

Katatonia, Opeth and Dissection would be 3 of the 100:s of Swedish bands I like and listen to.

You should check out Majalis, its a band with a mate of mine (Jonas Martinsson) and some other people from In Mourning, October Tide etc. Another great band that just released their debut fullenght album is Ages. They dont play Doom though, its more black, but they are really great!

You should also check out Onda Makter, a Swedish blackmetal band from Karlskrona where I live. They havnt released any album yet, but I will help them to record a proper promo during this winter, and they are really, really good! So dont miss that when it comes out!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

12.Are you or Henrik currently working with any other bands or projects?

 

Henrik has Skald, but I dont have anything else at the moment. Its hard where I live cause theres not many that likes the kind of music I do or want to play it. So I try to help other, younger bands instead, like Onda Makter. I mean, Ive been doing tthis for so long now that I feel that I want to share what I have learned. I would like to play some oldschool deathmetal though. Like old Entombed and Dismember. Maybe even do some death vocals again, it was a long time ago, but its fun as hell!

 

 

 

13.When not working on band music or business what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

 

Spend time with my fiance, watch good movies, tv-series and listen to music. I also like to spend time with my family and friends, and I would like to go more to concerts, but since theres no metal venue even close to where I live its hard. I have to go to Henrik for that and it takes about 3 hours on a train to get to Malmö, so its not something I do everyday. I also follow Liverpool FC!

And champions league in Football. Yes, I like football haha

1.Hello  when  did  you  two  first  meet? Was  it   long  before  you  all  formed  NYX.?


Blitz: Hello! Oh, we were discussing that lately. I think it was at the end of 2009 or beginning of 2010. Back then we were searching for a new guitarist for our previous band and Vinterbarn joined. So we got to know throught our former band. We found out that we can work together pretty well. It felt really natural that we created a vision together of what we wanted to do and in 2011 we formed our own project. That's almost exactely 4 years ago now. 






2.How  did  you  all  choose the  name  of the  band  NYX.?Does   it  have  a special  meaning?  For  the  readers   who  have  never  heard  your   music  how  would you  best  describe  it?



Blitz: Nyx is the greek goddess of the night. Born from chaos. We chose that name because we think it fits. I think our music is the result of something that is born from chaos. We try not to put any boundaries on what we are doing. We always want to feel free to do what we want. So when we started we were not thinking about what kind of music or what genre we want to play. We were practically doing what we felt like and what we had to do. Lately we saw that a lot of people describe it as raw black metal. We ourselves would rather call it something inbetween black metal and extreme metal. 





3. NYX.  is  getting  ready  to  release  the  debut  cd   "Home"  through  Agonia Rec.  how   long  did  it  take  you  two  to  write  and records  these  songs? Do  you both  write the  music  or does  one  member  usually  write  everything?


Vinterbarn: It took about 10 months to write the music and we develop it all step by step together. Then we had 12 days at the studio to record everything. But after that it took 2 year until it was released now (the recording took place in 2013) as we had to find a label and arrange everything with them. 




4.Who    usually   writes  the  lyrics for  the  band.What  are  some  subjects  you  all  write  about?


Blitz: We both do that. We work pretty close together in writing lyrics. For the album there was the idea of what the whole lyrical concept is about. This so called inner home. And we were developing the lyrics around that. It's a longing and a searching for a place within yourself that goes really deep and dark. 




5.I  believe  NYX  is  a  two  woman  band   have you  all discussed  adding  new  members for  a  full  band  or  do  you   prefer to  work  as a two piece?


Blitz: No, we already feel like a full band. For live we have a session-bassplayer with us. But to work on music and ideas we are good with the two of us. 


6.NYX  comes  out  of  the  German  metal  scen  what  is  your   opinion  of  Germany's  metal  scene?


Vinterbarn: When we are abroad, people tell us, Germany has a strong metal scene with many gig-locations. For me it’s hard to judge, but lately I saw many of that live music-locations vanishing.




7.Who  are  some  of  your  all-time  favorite  german  bands?  Are  their  any  new   bands  you  feel  the  readers  should  check  out?


Vinterbarn: If I listen to music, I don’t care whether it’s German or Black Metal or Metal. I don’t think among my alltime faves is a German band. But I lately discovered Mantar. They happen to be German and think they’re definitely worth checking out.


Blitz: All-time favorite german bands is a difficult term for me as well. My first look doesn't go to what country the band comes from but well, with some you definitely know. Helrunar I like a lot since years. And also Kreator somehow. And yes, Mantar are definitely worth checking! As well as our colleagues Hyems.




8.Besides  NYX  are  either  of  you   currently  working  with  any  other   bands  or  solo projects?


Vinterbarn: I do some other projects from time to time. But there’s no relevance for NYX here.





9.Blitz  you  handle  the  drums  for  the  band  when  did you become  interested  in  playing  the  drums? Are you  self taught  or  did you  take  lessons  when  first  starting  out?


Blitz: It was always the only instrument I wanted to play. It took some time to convince my mum of that (laughs) but then I started to play pretty early. I can't remember anymore at what age. I think somewhen between 11 and 12. But no warranty for that. Yes, I took some drum lessons in a music shool at the beginning. Later I taught some things myself.




10.Who  are  some  of your   influences/favorite  drummers?  Besides  the  drums  do  you  currently   play  any  other   instruments?


Blitz: That's a difficult question for me. I don't know if any specific drummers influenced me or if I have any favorites. Of couse you are influenced by the stuff you are listening to. But I never had any specific drummers I followed. There are a lot of really good and fantastic drummers but I'm far away from that. No I don't play any other instruments for  the moment. 




11.Vinterbarn  you   handle the   guitars for  the  band  at  what  age  did you  start  playing  the  guitars?Are  you  self taught  or  did  you  take  lessons  when  first   learning?


Vinterbarn: I started with 17. Rather late, especially coming from a musicians-family. But then I took lessons and even studied music with e-guitar as main-subject.




12.Who  are  some  of your   influences and  favorite   guitarists?



Vinterbarn: I can’t tell about influences as I learned lots of different songs and styles and probably they all influenced me somehow, but rather subconsciously. I hope I sound mostly like myself and not like anyone else actually. Mattias Eklundh is cool and I visited one of his summer workshops, but I’m far from playing or even trying to play like him. 





13. Vinterbarn   Besides  the  guitars   you  also  handle  the  vocals  when did you  start  singing and  screaming? Do  you  do   anything  special  to   keep your  throat  and voice  healthy?


Vinterbarn: No, that’s not completely right. We both scream, but I rather do backing-screams and clean-vocs. Most screamed parts are Blitz‘s  business. And hm… she smokes a lot to keep her voice healthy (laughs) and I do that at least at some rehearsals. I did a bit of singing along with my guitarplaying always and screaming was just started for Nyx. Blitz did it the first time when we started to write for „Home“ at the end of 2012 and I tried it some months later then as well.




14.Who  are  some of your   favorite  vocalists?

Vinterbarn: Björk, Nocturno Culto, Peter Tätgren, Rob Flynn, Jeff Walker, Chad Gray, Tim Yatras, Dave Grohl, Lizzy Plapinger, Karin Dreijer Andersson. I like it in general when instrumentalists sing, cause they do it often in a very intuitive, natural way with their playing.


Blitz: Quorthon, Peter Tätgren, Peter Steele, Dave Grohl, A.A. Nemtheanga, Chelsea Wolfe and Hekte Zaren, she is amazing for me! She really takes you to other spheres with her art.

Interview   with  Francisco   guitarist  for  Nuclear   done  by   Patrick







1. Hello Francisco    please  introduce  yourself to  the  readers? When  did you  discover  metal  music?


 A. Hey Patrick, thanks a lot for the interview. My name is Francisco Haussmann and I play guitars in the Chilean band Nuclear. I would say the first metal music discovery for me was Metallica back in 1989. Some friends and I were hanging out in a friend’s birthday party and this person comes to us with a Master of Puppets cassette saying “Have you heard this shit?” I was 9 years old and I obviously had never heard about it. It was an immediate reaction to it! Once “Battery” started we began throwing chairs, jumping from one couch to the other and moshing. We got kicked out of the house, went to mine and kept on listening to it all day. Best birthday ever!







2. When  did  you  first  meet  the  other  members  of  Nuclear? How  did you  all  choose the name  for the  band?


 A. It was back in the 80s. I am friends with Sebastian and Punto from 86-87. Since we were kids we enjoyed metal music together and in 1995 we began with our first project called “Escoria”. The remaining members were joining the band once Nuclear was already formed during the 2000s. The name was chosen after the destructive, unstoppable and powerful concept of Nuclear energy. Back then and till this day, Nuclear always has given 200% energy and commitment and we wanted a name to represent that kind of feeling. 




3.What  is  the   current  line-up  of the  band? For the readers  who  have   never  heard  Nuclear's  music  how would  you  best  describe  it?



 A. Current line-up is Matias Leonicio on Vocals, Roberto Barria on Bass Guitar, Punto Sudy on Drums and Sebastian Puente and I, both on Guitars. I would say the best word to describe the band is intensity. We play a very intense thrash metal with a hardcore edge. We are no purists in the style so we like to add different elements, not necessarily thrash, to bring our music to higher levels of violence - punk, thrash, death, you name it.  We like extreme music, not a particular genre of it.




4.Nuclear  is  getting ready  to  release  their  new  cd  "Formula  For  Anarchy"  through  the  Candlelight  Rec.  how  did  the  band  come  in  contact  with this  label?


 A. Candlelight got in touch with us during one of the European tours last year. We were in Czech Republic when we received the email from them. I am not quite sure how they knew about us, but we are pretty happy they did. It’s been a couple of months since the album is out and Candlelight has been very supportive - great people to work with.





5.How  long  did  it  take  the  band  to  write the  new songs for this  release?Does  the  whole band  take   part  in  the  writing   process  or  does  one  member  usually  write everything?


 A. Usually it takes around 6 to 8 months to write an album but it could be longer if the band is on tour. For this particular one, it was around 5 months. We were in a tight schedule so we locked up in the rehearsal room and worked hard to get it done. The writing always starts with a guitar riff from Sebastian or me, or a lyric idea. Then we get together both guitarists and try to ground the ideas. Once we have the song backbone, we present it to the rest of the band. Songs always have modifications and new complementary ideas from the other guys. 






6.Are  their  any tours  planned  in  support  of  "Formula  For  Anarchy"? If yes  where  are  some  countries  the  band  will  be  playing?Who  are  some  bands  you   will  be  touring  with?


 A. We did a European tour this year supporting the new album during August and September. We played Brutal Assault Festival in Czech Republic, and toured Russia and East Europe. We played in Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, among others.




7.What  have  been  some  of  Nuclear's   most  memorable  shows  to  date?


  A. It is actually a difficult question as we have had great shows in the past. I could name remarkable ones like the release party of Jehovirus album (2010), or Brutal Assault Festival a couple of months
ago. In-between we’ve had some incredibly supportive shows In Mexico. I’d say we are pretty happy about the reception of our music and the constant support by metalheads everywhere.



8.In  your  opinion   what  is  the  best  and  worst  thing   about  the  underground  metal scene?And  what  does  Metal  underground  mean  to  you?



 A. The best thing is for sure the die-hard fans out there, everywhere. Underground music lives because of them. There are tons of metalheads out there supporting, attending to concerts, buying CDs & merchandising from bands and that’s what makes this so great. The worst thing is the money problems a lot of bands experience. Bands usually don’t make money out of this so it becomes very difficult to keep on doing this forever. I’d say sometimes there’s a misconception about being an underground band – it means you play extreme music that most people out there would hate but it does not mean you cannot make a living out of it. It is all about how you manage the project. In my opinion, underground means no support by major labels, radios or zines, and because of that, it is the privilege to learn how to do things yourself, your own way.  




9. Nuclear   comes  out  of  the  Chilean  metal  scene   what  is  your   opinion  of  Chile's  metal  scene  over  the  years?


 A. It has evolved like any other metal scene. Back in the 80s and even great part of the 90s bands did not have access to professional equipment, there was a lot of disinformation and things were pretty difficult. Despite this, a lot of bands fought their way through and did amazing jobs. Of course it did not matter for the audience. Back then people used to pack every single venue and just enjoy music. Back in the day the country was under a dictatorship and obviously music and especially metal music wasn’t accepted, more over it was constantly banned. I’d say music and culture in general lost a great deal of time back then trying to subsist in such close-minded environment. 
Nowadays things are at hand and many bands out there have released good albums. The main problem that affects us all is distance-related. Being the last country of South America and so far away from pretty much everything is not something that helps much. Big venues turned into several small bars and people have so many options to go see a band today. International acts get the attention of most of the local metalheads so it is hard to pack a place today. Many local bands cannot gather more than 50 people at their concerts. It is still a great through. 






10.Who   are   some  of  your  all-time  favorite   Chilean  bands? Are  their   any  new  metal  bands  you  feel  the  readers  should  check  out  soon?



 A. At the top of my list I have 3: Poema Arcanus, Atomic Aggressor and Execrator. Poema Arcanus for their awesome taste in music and quality – Can’t think of any other band with such talent in Chile. Relentless career. Atomic Aggressor and Execrator for what they meant when I started listening metal music. I still can remember how these bands changed my point of view. In regards to new metal bands, you should definitely check out Lefutray, Conflicted, Impact, Carvakas, Mano Humana… just to name a few.




11.Francisco   you   handle  the   guitars   for  the   band  when  did you  become  interested  in  playing  the   guitars?Are  you   self  taught  or  did  you  take  lessons  when  first  learning?



 A. I remember the exact date I became interested in playing guitars - It was July 1995. I was playing drums by then but for some reason it just stopped to be fun anymore. I wanted to play guitars, to write songs. I knew I had some great ideas but my playing sucked so I decided to go for it as a challenge. I bought my first guitar in January 1996 and I have never stopped ever since. I did not take lessons – I just tried my best to play some tunes from Metallica, Sepultura and Kreator and those were my very first steps. 




12.Who   are  some  of  your   influences/favorite  guitarists? Besides  the  guitars do  you  play  any  other    instruments?


 A. I’d say by the time I started playing guitar, bands such as Sepultura, Kreator, Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, Benediction, Dismember, Entombed were the ones who influenced me the most. For instance, guitar players like Dimebag Darrell had it all: technique, passion and taste, but I used to    listen to a lot of bands back in the day. I mean, when it comes to guitar playing, Randy Rhoads, Eddie Van Halen or Marty Friedman have always impressed me the most. However my guitar playing isn’t that neat as I like to add punk ideas to the thrash we do. Back in the day, I used to play drums. It lasted for a couple of years before I realized I wanted to play guitars. 




13.Besides  Nuclear   are  any  of  the   members  currently  working  with   any  other  bands?



 A. No, We are 100% focused on Nuclear at the moment. 





14.Besides   the Formula  For  Anarchy   release  coming  out   does  the   band  have  any  other   merchandise  available  for the  readers?If  yes  where the  fans  buy  the  merchandise?

Coming  out  of the  Baltimore's  black,death  metal scene  is  Extermination  Angel.Mixing  fast  guitar  riffs  with  some very  well written  guitar  patterns.The d rumming  is  done  with  a lot  of  crazed  drum  patterns but  the drumming  is  not  all over the top  speed sessions  their  are   moments  with some  mid paced  heavier  sections before  picking  up  the  pace  once  again.The  vocals  are  a  mix  of   gruff death metal growls  and  some  black  metal  screams  entertwined.If  you  are  a  fan  of the  mid  nineties black,death  metal  scene then  this  is  a band  you   will  defintly  want to check  out  soon.

This  is  my  first  encounter  with  Chile's  Nuclear   who   play  a  very  aggressive early  eighties  thrash  metal  style  and  do  it  with  great  skill and  experience.The  guitarist  plays  at  a  lightning  hyper speed  with  some  very  well  written  and  played  guitar  patterns and  some  well  done  solo's  mixed  in  a  few  songs.The  drums  are  well done  with  a lot  of   crazed and  fast  drum  patterns.Vocally  the  band  uses the  screaming  and  some  hollering  similar  to  early  tom Araya.If  you  enjoy  well done and  played  thrash  metal  then  this  is  a   band  for  you to  check  out  today.

Trench Warfare  comes  out  of  the  mighty  Texas blackend death  scene.Combing  heavy and  pounding  drums  that  go  from  a  mid tempo  style  to  an  all out  assult  of  fast  drum  beats that  are  full of  aggression.But  the  drummer  does a  great  job  of   mixing  in both  fast  and  a  more  controlled  mid-tempo style  with  a lot  of  talent  and  skill.Guitars  are  played  in the  same  vein  with  some  outburst  of furious  guitar  riffs  and  some  more  mid paced  riffs.The  vocals  are  mainly  death  metal  growls  with  a  few  sections of  screams entertwined  within the music.Trench Warfare   is  a  good  band  if you  are  into  chaotic  blackend  death  metal  then this  is a  band  and  release  you  will  not  want  to   miss  out  on.

Vingulmork--Chiaroscuro  cd and  LP  {Crime  Rec.}

Norway's  Vingulmork   have  released  their  debut release  through  Crime Rec.Mixing  violent,fast  thrash  metal together  with  some   old-school  black metal  influences.The  music  is  a  nice  mix  of  some  fast  thrashy blackend  metal  but  the  guitarist   knows  how  to  take  it  down to  a  more  mid-paced  speed with  some  really  well played  guitar  chords.The  drumming  is  in the same vein  with  some  crazed,fast   patterns  but  also   slows to  a  more  controlled  pace.The  vocals  are  a  mix  of thrashy  screams  and  some  whispering type  of  vocal  patterns.If you  are  a  fan  of  blackend thrash  metal  then  Vingulmork are  a  band  you   should   look  out  for.

1.Hello  when did  you  all first  meet?  Was  it  long  before  you  started  the band Propaganda?How  did you  all come  up  with the  name  for the  band?



Hello Patrick, This is Yanz from Propaganda. PROPAGANDA band from Bogor city was formed in late 2009. by plunging into existence by bringing Brutal Death Metal music. In accordance with the meaning of the name " PROPAGANDA " which means the band mem-right propaganda, before the band was originally formed from any previous band personnel have known / recognized by relatives and friends of underground music.
Commitment and can not be separated from the support of family support, disconnected from any personnel focused on the current band ( Propaganda ).
The line-up this time with Ari (ex-DEMENTOR), Yanz (ex-DIE OVER CRY ), and ikok (ex-ANAL SYNDROM). tone music explosion, destroying fast,
thick depth, vocal sounds guttural and noise characteristics make a strong decline of the music the band its self. Elements of propaganda influence music influenced
by Brutal Death Metal bands like Disgorge, Gorgasm and Cerebral Effusion.






2.What  is  the  current  line up  for   the  band? For  the readers  who  have  never  heard   Propaganda's  music  how  would  you  best   describe  it?




 Currently this is Propaganda line up :
-Yanz : guitars
-Fajar : bass
-Ari Septian :  vocal
-Rizky : drums
We play brutal death metal (BDM) with fast rhythm and aggressive with the lyrics theme about sadistic slaughter, mutilation killing by unstoppable sicko schizophrenia killer.




3.Propaganda  is  getting  ready  to  release  their  debut  cd  "The  Mask  Of  Sanity"  through  Brute! Productions.  how  you  all come  in contact   with this  label?



At the beginning we just released a promo release made by us and after that we got contact from Joi as the owner of Brute! Production to make the album through his label Joi once said to me that Mahfudz of Departed which is the band in the roster of Brute! introducing Propaganda to him. He called me internationally and offer us to record everything again with the professional studio at EXTEND Studio, Bandung, Indonesia. Joi wants our album to be the best as we can. He give us a fund and everything.




4.How   long  did  it  take the  band to  write  and record the  songs  for this  release?Does  the  whole  band take  part  in the  writing  process or  does  one member  usually  write  everything?



It's been taken long time enough to make the songs. All members have contributed to the entire songs until became the album. It's team work




5.Besides  the  debut cd   The  Mask  Of  Sanity"  does  the  band  have  any  other   merchandise  available  for  the  fans? If  yes  what  is  available  and  where can the  fans  buy  it  from?



 For Propaganda merchandise you can get from our label Brute! Productions, from the band directly and also from many distros in Indonesia.

6.Does   Propaganda   get  to   play  live  very  often? What  have  been some  of  your  most  memorable  shows  so  far?

 Every live shows is very memorable event for us. From that events we can get to know the other bands.




7.Are their  any  shows  or  small tours  coming  up  for  the  band?



The nearest show is "City Thunder Fest" that will be held in Bogor on November 28, 2015 and  we plan to have a show in the event "Lampung Timur Brutal Fest" on March 20, 2016. For album tour we are planning for that and we hope it will be happened soon.



8. Propaganda   comes  out  of  the  Indonesia  brutal death  metal scene   it  seems their  is  a  pretty good  scene  in    Indonesia.  what  is   your   opinion  of  the  Indonesian   scene?

We think the metal scene in Indonesia is very good, for the support spirit is very good although there are still some who have not been able to support each other.


9.Who  are your  all-time  favorite  bands  coming  out  of    Indonesia?Are  their   any  new   bands  you  feel  the readers  should  check  out   soon?



There are many new good bands in Indonesia should be known by local and overseas metal fans , such as PIG COMPANY (grindcore), ANAL TORTURE (Brutal Death Metal), NITHAEL (Metal), LIZARD (Brutal Death Metal) , DYING (Brutal Death Metal) and many more Our favorite band is Asphyxiate, Cerebral Effusion, Disgorge, Gorgasm, Carnivore Diprosopus, Vulnus, Deeds of Flesh and much more




10.Besides  bands  does   Indonesia  have  any  good  labels  or  distro's  the  fans  should  check  out?

There alot of many good label, distro and records such as Brutal Mind, Sickness Merchandise, Groupies Merch, Extreme Soul Production, Dismembered Records, Rottrevore Records, Painkiller Merch, Fullmerch, etc.




11.Besides   Propaganda  are  any  of  the  members  of  the  band  currently  playing  in  side-projects  or  bands?

 We are currently still focus on one band might be for next year one member will the other project.
