Black  Cult--Neo--Satanism   cd   {Black   Plague  Records.}Croatia's  Black  Cult  have  released  their  debut  cd  through  Black  Plague  records.Black  Cult  play  a  great  style  of   pure black  metal   similar  to the  early to  mid  nineties  Swedish/Norweigan  bands  with  their  own  style.The  guitars  are fast  and  furious  with  some  chaotic  riffs  mixed  in but  also  have  a decent  amount  of  mid paced  riffs.The  vocalist  does a  great  job  with  some  excellent  shrieks  and  even  screams  in  a  few  sections.Black  Cult  have   released  a  great  black metal release  full of  chaotic  riffs  fast  drumming  and  a lot  of  skill  defintly  check  this  band  out  today  if your   looking  for   some  excellent  black metal

Ending  Quest--The Summoning cd   {F.D.A Rekotz}

Ending  Quest   come  out  of  the   mighty   Swedish   metal  scene combining  elements  of  {early}  Grave  and Entombed  with  their  own  style  and  approach  to  how  death metal  should  sound.The  guitars   are   played  with  fast  and some  heavy  riffs  with  some  good  mix  of  solo's  mixed  in to the  songs.The  drummer  is  very  good  with  this  style  going  from  fast  to  some  crazed  mid tempo  beats.The  vocals  are  some  very  good  sounding  death  growls with  some  gruff  screams  entertwined  in a few  tracks.Anyone  into  Swedish  death metal  should  definitely  give this  band  a  shot  and  buy a  copy  today.

The  Furor--Impending   Revelations  cd    {Self-Released}

The  Furor   comes  out  of  the   mighty  Australian  metal  scene  bringing  their  fourth  cd   "Impending  Revelations"  brings  the   old school  flame  of  black and thrash  metal  together  with a  little  dose  of   death metal  in a few  of the  songs.The  guitars  are  played   in  a  mid  paced range  which  do  jump  to a  more  destructive and faster  speed in a few  of the  songs.The  drumming is done  in the  same style  with  some  mid  paced  beats  before  jumping  to a  more  vicious and  violent  drum  style.The  vocals  are  old-school  shrieks  and thrashy screams.This  is a  good  release  of  old school  blackend thrash/death metal  if your   into  these  styles  then  defintly check  out  The  Furor.

Necroholocaust---Holocaustic Goat Metal  LP.  {Iron Bonehehead  Records

Canada's  Necroholocaust have  unleashed  their  debut  full-length  LP  through  Iron Bonehehead  Records.The  band  has  been  around  for  years  releasing  demo's,split releases crafting  their  violent  war death  metal  style.Extremly  fast guitars with   no  comprimises .The  drummer  is  very  skilled  in  the   art  of  extremely  fast,hateful  blast beats.The  band  has  some thrashy  influences in their  music  as well.  Necroholocaust    has  released  a  superior  release  with  all the right  elements  of war/thrashing  death  metal  at  it's  finest  and  most  fierce.

Nuclear  Perversion--Desolation  Rituals  Cassette  Tape  {Iron Bonehead  Records}

This  is   my  first  encounter   with   Nuclear  Perversion  and  this  is  a  vicious  and  violent  band  that  knows  how  to  play.The guitars  are  played  at heavy and maximum  speeds  with  some  very  well  done  guitar  riffs.The  drumming  is  played  with  a lot of  speed  and  blast  beats  entertwined in a few  of the  tracks.The  vocals  are  low death  growls  and   some  gruff  screams .I   know  very   little  about  Nuclear  Perversion   but  this  is  a  band to  look  out for if  you  enjoy  primitive,vicious  death  metal.

The   Stone--Nekroza   cd   {Folter  Records}

Serbia's  The Stone  have  returned  with  their   newest  cd  "Nekroza"  this  is  a  great  black  metal  band  that  everyone into  quality  black metal  should  check  out  today.The  band  plays  cold,dark  and fast black metal  but  the  band  is  not  afraid to  slow  it  down to  a  mid-paced  guitar  tones  and even  some  atmospheric   elements  in a few of the  songs  befor  gong into  hyper  speed  again.The  vocals  are done  in  raspy  shrieks  and  some   gruff growls .the  guitars  are  done  very  good   with  some  extremely  fast  riffs  but  are  not  all speed as the band  does  slow  down  to a mid  paced  speed  in a few  of  the  tracks.The  band  does  have  a lot  of  creative  and  some  catchy  riffs  and  drum  patterns.This  is  one  of  The Stones  best  releases  to  date  if you   have  heard The Stone  before  and did not care for  them I  would  give  them a second  chance if you  are   new to  this great Serbian  band  then  give them  a  chance.

Interview   with  Caesar   vocalist,and Bassist  for   Diabolical  Messiah    done   by   Patrick

1.Hello    Caesar  how  are  things  going  in   Chile? Please  introduce  yourself  to  the  readers?


 Hi there! We’re Diabolical Messiah from Rancagua, Chile. The band was formed in 1999 and we play death metal. The definite line up dates back from 2001. That year, Miguel Perez (Herodes) left the band and nowadays Diabolical Messiah are Rodrigo Marmolejo "Pilatvs"(Drums), Pablo Ñanculao "Carcelero" (Guitars) and César Díaz "Caesar" (Bass and vocals)






2.Caesar   you   started   Diabolical  Messiah     in  1999.When  did  you  get  the   idea  to  form  Diabolical  Messiah ?


 In 1998, I came back to Rancagua after living a year in another city. In that year I started thinking about forming a band so I talked to Herodes and he said “yes, sure!” I had the name of the band in my mind so we just needed to start writing and rehearsing our musical ideas.





3.Diabolical  Messiah    is  getting  ready  to  Re-release  their  debut  "Satan  Totten Demon  Victory"  through  Blood  Harvest  Records.How did  you  all  come in  contact  with  the  label?


 We started the contact with Blood Harvest Rec. for the 12" Satan Tottendemon Victory!!! a couple of years ago. Proselitysm Rec. helped with that. However, the latter didn’t have much time for negotiations. We had to write more material for Proselitysm but we wanted to sign for Bood Harvest so we negotiated the cover design with Proselitysm and followed the contact directly with Blood Harvest by ourselves.



4. How  long  did  it take  to  write  the  music for "Satan  Totten Demon  Victory"?Does  the  whole  band  work  on  the  music  or  does  one  member  usually  write  everything?


 Satan Tottendemon Victory!!! tracks took about two years as we needed a record level to be interested in our material. Musically speaking, all of us work in the creation of tracks; however, I write all the lyrics although I show the songs to the rest of the band members before the final version.


5.Diabolical  Messiah    formed  back  in  1999  how  would  you  say the  music  has  changed  over  the  years? 

We’ve kept our music style through the years. We play fast drums and heavy guitars. Live sound has changed because of the technology; that means we sound better than before.


6.Does   Diabolical  Messiah     have  any  shows  or  tours  coming  up  that  the  readers  should  watch  out for or  do  you  prefer to  be  in  the  studio?


 We’re doing both things. We have some shows in the near future in different cities of my country and we’re also working on the material for the new album. Probably, we’ll be playing in Europe next year.


7.Who   are  some  bands  you   all  have  shared  the  stage  with over the years ? Has  the  band  ever  gotten to  play  outside  of  Chile?

 This year we’ve been playing with a lot of Chilean bands (Cancerbero, Pulverized, Hail Caligula, Totten Korps, Orategod, Gravestone, Wrathprayer, Praise the Flame, and so on) We also played in U.S.A. with bands like Sacrocurse (Mexico), Wrathprayer, Pseudogod (Russia), Morgengrau (Austin), Hellfire Deathcult (Chicago) and Funebrarum (New York)




8.Diabolical  Messiah    come's  out of  the  Chilean metal  scene  what  is  your   opinion  of  Chile's  metal  scene?

Nowadays, the Chilean metal  scene is pretty big. There’re a lot of bands, record labels, producers, zine and so on.


9.Who  are  your  all-time  favorite  bands  from  Chile? Are  their  any  new  bands you   feel  the  readers   should   check  out  soon?


 I guess "The King of Hell Reclaims his Throne" by Totten Korps is the best Chilean material ever written but it’s just my opinion although a lot of bangers think it is. I can also mention old bands like Cancerbero, Atomic Aggressor (demos), Sadism (demos), Scrotum Death (r.i.p.) They wrote great material as well. Nowadays, there’re a lot of bands in Chile but not all of them are good. I suggest you to listen to Demonic Rage, Godless, Wrathprayer, Unaussprechlichen Kulten, Slauhgbbath for example.




10.Are  you  or  any of  the  members  of   Diabolical  Messiah    currently  working  with  other  bands  or solo projects?


 No, we don’t. We are only focused on Diabolical Messiah. We have time consuming jobs so we don’t have enough time for another band.


11.Caesar  you   handle   the  vocals  for  the  band. When  did  you   first  start  singing/growling?


  Before forming Diabolical Messiah, when I was 14, I played guitars and sang in friend-group bands. I just played the guitar. In Diabolical Messiah’s early days I was the guitar player. We never found a good singer so I took the place and changed the guitar for the bass.



12.Who  are  some  of  your   influence's/favorite  vocalist? Do  you  do  anything  special  to  keep  your   voice  healthy  when  recording  or  preparing  for  a  show?


 I don’t have a favorite singer or front man. I think a band is a complement that is drums, guitars, bass and vocals. But I can mention Ross Dolan, Pete Helmkamp, Alex Camargo, David Vincent and Peter Tägtgren.


13.In  your   opinion   what  does  the   term  "Underground  metal  mean  to  you?


 I think and believe metal underground lacks of distribution by the media (sometimes by band’s choice) Nowadays, it’s very difficult to staying away from the mainstream and big audiences.

Interview with Thor Sejersen guitars for Innsmouth done by Patrick



1.Greetings  Thor  when  did  you  first  become  interested  in  playing  the  guitars?Are  you  self taught  or  did  you  take  lessons  when  first   starting  out?

Hello there.
I listened to Heavy Metal bands such as Metallica, Manowar and Alice Cooper when i was a kid, and then kinda forgot about it for several years. Then when i was around 14 years old, I rediscovered it all. I started listening to Metal all the time and became really interested in learning how to play the guitar. It was the song ”One”  by Metallica that made me decide that i wanted to give it a try. I remember having no clue as to how they made music like that but I found it incredibly fascinating. The fast solo toward the end of ”One” totally blew me away, and i knew i had to learn how to play like that! I took lessons for the first two years learning all the basic stuff. After that i started learning from instructional videos by great players such as Vinnie Moore, Marty Friedman, Michael Angelo Batio, John Petrucci etc. I also took lessons in music theory throughout high school.





2.Who  are  some  of  your  biggest  influences/favorite  guitarist?Do  you  currently  play  any  other  instruments?


Here are a couple of my favorite players from the top of my head: Paul Gilbert, George Bellas, Kiko Loureiro, Raphael Bittencourt, Michael Lee Firkins, Mattias Eklundh, Todd Duane, Herman Li, Sam Totman, Buckethead, Karl Logan, Andy Timmons, Vinnie Moore, Marty Friedman, Michael Angelo Batio, John Petrucci, Michael Romeo, Shawn Lane etc.
I can play the bass decently, but I dont consider myself a bassist.





3.Thor  when  did  you  first  meet  the  other  members  of  Innsmouth? How  did  you  all  come  up  with  the name  of  the  band?



We met each other in our teenage years through mutual friends. We shared a common interest in Heavy Metal music, so we became friends and stayed in contact. Throughout the years we have played in various bands in the danish underground metal scene, occasionally in the same bands. Back in 2006, Kim (vocals) and I had an idea of starting a Black Metal band. For various reasons, this band wasn't formed until december 2012. We then convinced Martin (bass) to join us. When we started writing the songs, we gradually changed our style into Death Metal. The name ”Innsmouth” comes from the H.P. Lovecraft novel ”The Shadow over Innsmouth”. We are inspired a great deal by his writings, and this is reflected in the lyrics. So we ended up using ”Innsmouth” as our bandname since it relates to our lyrics, and because we went for a Lovecraftian mood in our lyrics.



4. Innsmouth   is  getting  ready  to  release  their  debut  cd  "The  Shadow Over   Innsmouth" through  Crime records.How  long  did  it  take  the  band  to  write  the  music  for  the  songs?



I had written rough forms of three of the songs back in 2010. I presented them to the other guys and they liked them. I then reworked those songs and made the song structures better. This process as well as writing the other five songs on the album took four months.




5.Does  the  whole  band   work  on  the  music  or  does  one or  two  members  usually  write everything?For  the  readers  who  have  never  heard   Innsmouth's  music  how  would  you  describe  the  sound?



Usually I write the songs and most of the material. Martin and Kim contribute music and lyrics, and then I try to shape songs out of their input or incorporate it into the songs that I am writing. All in all, the final structure of each song is something that I take care off, even though the other guys can at anytime say if they want something to be changed.
I would describe our sound as surprising, unique, disturbing, eerie, impressive, brutal and unpredictable. If you like metal with lots of twists and turns, then you will like us.


6.Who   usually  writes  the  lyrics  for  the   band where  do  you  all  draw  inspiration  for  them?


I write the majority of the lyrics. I find inspiration in the writings of authors such as H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen King. I also find inspiration in various movies, mostly horror movies. I keep a document where i write down all the cool words and themes that I come across. I then later incorporate stuff from this document in the lyrics that I write. Kim also contributes lyrics. He sends me his lyrics online, I look at what he writes and then I try to figure out where his lyrics will fit.


7.Does   Innsmouth   play  "live"  very  often  or  do  you  prefer  to  work  in  the  studio?Who   are  some  bands   Innsmouth   have  shared   the  stage  with?


Innsmouth haven't played live yet. We did however use to play live in other bands when we were younger. We have all shared the stage with a great danish band called 100 Knives Inside that sadly disbanded. Kim's former band shared stage with bands such as Mercenary, Bibleblack and Pretty Maids.



8.Are  their  any  tours/shows  coming  up  for  the  new  release  "The  Shadow Over   Innsmouth"? If  yes  where  are  some  countries/places  the  band  will  be  playing? If  you  could  set  up  a   dream tour  who  are  some  bands{past  or  present} you  would  like  to  share   the  stage  with?




Innsmouth will not be playing live anytime soon. The initial idea of the band was to write, record and release great music. This remains our plan as for now. We are already in the writing process for our next album.
Some bands that I would like to share stage with would be bands like: Manowar, Metallica, Megadeth, Dream Theater, Children of Bodom, Cannibal Corpse, Rhapsody of Fire and many others!



9.Innsmouth   comes  out  of  the  Denmark  metal  scene  what  is  your   opinion  of  Denmark's  metal  scene?


The Danish Metal Scene is somewhat diverse. There are all kinds of bands representing various sub-genres. So whatever sub-genre you are into, you can usually find some bands playing that particular style.




10.Who  are  some  of  your  all time  favorite  bands  from   Denmark? Are  their  any  new  bands   you  feel   the  readers  should  check  out?


My all time favorite band from Denmark is ”Beyond Twilight”. The band is usually considered danish despite only having two danish members. This is probably due to the fact that the mastermind and composer behind the band, Finn Zierler is a dane. They only released three albums before disbanding, which is a shame, but those three albums means a lot to me, and are totally unique.
King Diamond have also made a multitude of great albums with amazing guitar shredding on all of them! My favorite King Diamond albums would probably be ”Abigail” and ”Them”.



11.What  does  the  term  Underground  Metal   mean  to  you?


To me, Underground Metal is a term describing metal bands and musicians that aren't getting exposed to the masses.


12.Thor  are   you  or  any of  the  members  of   Innsmouth    currently  working  with  side bands  or  projects?


I am working on my solo project. It is gonna be in the style of the 80´s style shred metal. I released a demo consisting of four tracks in this style back in 2010, and now I am working on a full length album.



13.When  not  working  on  band  music  or  business  what  do  you  enjoy   doing  in  your    spare  time?


I usually spend time with my girlfriend, practice guitar, listen to music, read books or watch movies.

Interview  with  Morbid  vocalist   of Black Cult   done  by   Patrick



1.Hails Morbid  how  is  life  going for  you  in Croatia? When  did  you  first  discover  metal  music?


Hails Patrick!
I'm doing just fine down here.I first discovered metal in my primary school, when I was about six years old.
First bands to meet my ears were W.A.S.P., Iron maiden, Guns N' Roses and Ac/Dc. I remember it like it was yesterday. Those were my favourites back then.





2.Who  were  some  of  the  first  bands  you   listened to? Who  are  some  of  your  current  favorites?


Like mentioned above, those few bands opened my doors of perception for the rock and heavy music.
Later I had a grunge phase, then some gothic doom, and later on a death and black metal era so to say.
I still listen to most of my best bands from each era. Nowadays I still listen some bands that I've started with,
but mostly I like to discover new music and bands. Not necessarily only metal.
I mostly listen to underground music at the moment. When it comes to black metal and extreme metal in general
I think that the new Behemoth, Deathstars and Dark fortress are amazing, passionate and honest albums which is a rare  thing nowadays in the metal music scene.
When it comes to more underground bands I listen a lot to Djevel and Tortorum.
Aside all of that, Combichrist and Hank III is what I might force in my car often.



3.Black  Cult  started  out  as a  two man  band  with  yourself and Insanus  how   long  did  you  stay a   two man  band?



The idea was to keep it a two men band but since we started having plans for live appearances we needed   the whole band.
Not long after finishing with the album mix we decided to call upon few individuals that we thought would  get into what we wanted to present with our music.
The full line up was formed in early 2014 and that's when we started with our first live shows too.



4.When  did  you  guys  decide  to  add  more  members to  Black Cult? What  is  the  current  line-up  of  the   band?  For  the  readers  who have  never  heard  Black Cult   how
would  you  describe  the  bands  music?


Like I said already above we decided to add more members so that we can perform our music live as well.
The current line up is the one and only original line up so far. Consisting of the most prominent names from  the croatian black metal underground scene.
We play true black metal with all it's best influences how we think it should sound and appear nowadays.



5. Black Cult   has  released  their  debut  cd   "Neo-Satanism"  through  Black Plague Records.
How  did you come  in  contact  in  contact  with  Mike and  Black Plague Records?



We released "Neo-Satanism" for Black Plague records/Metallic media, but also for the Russian label
"Satanath records" so it was a co-release for three labels.
We came in contact over email, they really liked the material and decided to put it out.




6.How  long  did  it  take to  write  the  music for  the  new  cd?
Does the  whole  band  work  on  the  music  or does one or two  members  write  everything?


Insanus did all the music, mix, mastering and I wrote the lyrics and did all the vocals.
Saathaen, our lead guitarist laid down the solo part on "Damned souls Imperium".
Insanus had all these ideas and riffs that he recorded over a couple of years.
Once he decided to record the album we did it one by one in less than a year.



7.Who  usually  writes  the  lyrics  for  the  band? Where  do  you  all draw  inspiration  for  the  lyrics?
I write all the lyrics.
The inspiration comes from many sources. Mostly personal philosophy, experiences and studies.
On "Neo-Satanism" it was in general about pure misanthropy and Luciferian philosophy.
It was a fundamental statement of the early black metal so we wanted to keep it real and old school
when it comes to lyrics too.  




8.Does   Black Cult   play  "live"  very often or  do  you  prefer to  work  in  the  studio?
Who  are  some bands  you  have  shared  the  stage  with?



We prefer both, but when it comes to live appearances we choose the place and time.
If one of those two terms does not fit to us we won't be doing it.
We are not a band that will show up at every given opportunity.  We are also not a touring band.
We played only with local underground bands so far and are very supportive of the underground scene in   general so we don't have ambitions to share the stage with more popular bands.
We like to do our own live ritual and have things under control.



9.Are  their  any  shows or  tours  coming  up? If  yes  where  will you  all be   playing?


So far we have a few Croatian dates confirmed again, but we are working on some dates outside our homeland too.

10.What  does black  metal  mean  to  you?


It's pure magic and one of the best musical expressions ever.


11.Morbid  you  handle  the  vocals  for  the  band  when  did  you  first  become  interested in 
singing/screaming? Do  you  do  anything  special  to  keep  your  throat/voice  healthy?


When I was 15 years old I had my first band where I played a bass guitar.
Some years later me and Insanus formed my other band "Gorthaur's Wrath". I've been into it for a very long time.
I do some Zen of screaming warm ups before the shows or rehearsals. It helps a lot to keep the voice strong   during the longer period of time.
Other than that I don't do much at the moment other than usual rehearsal, the more often the better.
It's like with any other kind of exercises.


12.Who   are  some  of  your  influences/favorite  singers?  Do  you  currently  play  any  other  instruments?


From the early days it was Dead (Mayhem/Morbid) and Legion (Marduk). Nowadays there are many but I always keep to my
roots.   Sometimes bass or rhythm guitar but not much. I mostly try to cover some old Misfits songs for my own pleasure.



13.Morbid are  you  or  any of  the  members  of  Black Cult   currently  working  with  side-bands 
or  solo  projects? If  yes   please  tell the  readers  about  them?


We all have "original" bands or side projects, yes.
Insanus played in Castrum, Unholy Inquisition, Svitogor, Hibernum, Ashes you leave and Gorthaur's Wrath.
My original band is Gorthaur's Wrath, I also played bass in Unholy Inquisition, BlackDivision and had another black   metal side project back in the days called "Mysterium".
Saathaen comes from Ashes you leave and was also involved in Heathen Mysticism.
Azaghal (the rhythm guitarist) played in Unholy Inquisition, Hibernum and Gorthaur's Wrath.
Lesovik (the bass player) was in Nekrist, Gorthaur's Wrath, Voloh and is still in Kult Perunov.
You can dig up some of those bands, I think you would find them interesting.


14. Black Cult     comes   out  of   Croatia's black  metal  scene  what  is  your   opinion  of 
Croatia's  metal  scene?


The scene is really big and there are lot of bands but also a very big fan base for all genres of metal.
The clubs are growing lately, so the promotion is there as well.
Still if you wanna grow really big you gotta go out and try to play as many EU shows as possible.
The band can not survive only in Croatia, as it's such a small country and unfortunately metal is not so popular in the mass media
like in some scandinavian countries for example.
I'm not saying we have to be on national tv, but some label, radio or magazine support would be highly appreciated.
Unfortunately it's not significant enough, so we have to do it all by ourselves but it works that way.
It did for all those years.





15.Who  are  your  all-time  favorite   Croatian  bands? 
Are  their  any  new  bands you   feel  the  readers   should  check  out?


There are not so many Croatian bands that I could call all-time, but let's say "Castrum" and "Death of folk"
could be the ones from the metal scene for me.
You should definitely check out Kryn, good friends and a really great band. Not black metal but still really strong  and original music.

Death,doom  band  Doomed  comes  out  of the  German scene. All  the  instruments  are  done  by  Pierre Laube  and  the  new  cd    "Our  Ruin Silhouttes" is  being  released  by  the  excellent  Russian  label  Solitude Prod.The  music  is   very  slow   and  crushing  death/doom with  some  mid tempo  guitars  before  going back  to  the  slow dreadful  sound.The  vocals  are  death  growls  but  dne   extremely  well.Their  are  hints  of  funeral  doom  and  even  some  atmospheric  parts  mixed  in  with  the  heavy death/doom.If  you  are  a  fan  of  slow,dreadful  doom  then  this  is  a  release  you  must  get  today.

Force  Of   Darkness--Absolute  Verb  Of  Chaos  And  Darkness   cd   {Hells  Headbangers  Records}

Germany's   Khthoniik  Cerviikshave   released  their  debut  demo  cass "Heptae  Drone "   seven  songs  of fast,crazed  death metal.Very  well played  guitars  that  rang  between  ultra  fast  to a  more  controlled  mid-paced  guitar  sound.The  drummer  is  excellent  with  the  crazy,fast  drumming  patterns.The  vocals  are  death  metal  growls  that  are  done  excellent.

 Man  Gremmes  Kan  is  a   three  man  band  coming  out  of   the  Norwegian  Black  Metal  scene.Playing  old-school,raw  black  metal  similar  to  the  late  80's,early  90's  black  metal  scene.Fast  blackend  thrashy  guitars  with  some  really  well  played  guitars  with  the  cold,razorsharp  riffs.The  drumming  is  done  with  a  variety  of  mid paced  drumming  patterns  and  a  more  vicious  fast  drum  beats.The  vocals   are  done  in  the  early  vein  of  raw  shrieks  and  screams  mixed  in some  of  the  tracks.  A very  good  release  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old school  blackend  metal  with  some  thrash  influences  mixed  in  this  is  a  great  band.

1.Hello Leimy how is life in Germany going for you? When did you first discover metal?


  Hi Patrick! Life is perfect here at the moment! We had some great gigs this year (the last one was at the Malta Deathfest one week ago) and now we are preparing for entering the studio in October to record three new songs. But until then I plan to go to a few cool festivals and concerts in the next weeks (e.g. the NRW Deathfest, Carnage Feast and the Bolt Thrower-tour). I'm a metalhead since I am 11 years old. A friend at school gave me „...and justice for all“ from Metallica and *baaaaamm*, I was totally into this kind of music :D A few years later, in 1996 I discovered Cannibal Corpse and so for 18 years I'm in love with Death Metal – a true love which will never end ;)






2.When did you meet the other members of Reckless Manslaughter? What is the current line up? For the readers who have never heard Reckless Manslaughter how
would you describe the music?


 At the moment the lineup consists of the following people (and I'm sure it will be the perfect lineup for a long time): Chris - Bass Dennis – Guitar
Leimy – Vocals
Pneumator – Drums Sebi – Guitar
Dennis joined us in 2012, when we were in search for a second guitar-player to evolve our sound and he totally fits to us and the vision we had with RECKLESS MANSLAUGHTER. It was a great decision because he expanded our sound and we soon became friends. Until then there were only the four friends Chris, Leimy, Pneumator and Sebi who just wanted to do some brutal old school Death Metal to kick some asses :D I would describe our music as a mixture between Brutal Death Metal and classic Death Metal in the vein of Cannibal Corpse, Monstrosity and here and there even Bolt Thrower. 3.The band is signed to Final Gate Rec. how did the band come in contact with this label?Are you happy with the job they have done so far?



We know Marco from Final Gate Records (he is also the owner of Rotten Roll Rex) since a few years from concerts and festivals. He is really a nice guy and we gave him the Promo-CD of our latest album at a gig of Macabre and he was directly totally into our stuff and wanted to release it! We are really happy with the work he has done so far, because he totally stands behind the stuff he has in his sortiment and he only releases music which he really likes. No rip-off behavior, just pure dedication!



4.Reckless Manslaughter has released their second cd "Blast Into Oblivion" how long did it take to write the music for the songs? 



We are not the fastest songwriters, so it took nearly two years to get the stuff together. Sometimes it's hard to arrange with the music because of our jobs and families and so there aren't so many rehearsals. But when we rehearse then the earth is shaking and we collect cool riffs and ideas. Hope the next album won't take so much time...



5.Does the whole band work on the music or does one member usually write everything?


  We are doing the classical style of writing music: A guitar-player comes in with a cool riff-idea and around that we construct a new song at our rehearsal-room. So everybody can contribute with his own ideas.


6. Who usually writes the lyrics for the band? What are some topics/subjects you all write about?



Usually I'm in charge for the lyrics. But since I'm not the best lyric-writer I always get some help from the other bandmebers or friends. Usually we are writing about death, war and apocalypse. Typical Death Metal stuff ;) For us the lyrics aren't so important and so you will never hear some obscure, pseudointellectual elitist-shit. Just some putrid and rotten Death Metal-stuff right in your face ;)


7.Reckless Manslaughter comes out of the mighty German scene.What is your opinion of Germany's metal scene?



 At the moment there is a great underground-scene in Germany and in the last few years we met a lot of cool bands on the road with which we became friends. There is a strong solidarity between the bands and no rivalry. We help each other with gigs and even guest-apperances and enjoy the positive reactions we get. There are so many different and totally individual bands like never before. No matter if you like Swedish Death metal, Brutal Death Metal, American Death Metal, Death/Doom or Black/Death: For every taste you will find a special band! I hope the scene will stay strong!



8.Who are your all time favorite German bands? Are their any new bands you feel the readers should check out?


My two favourite German bands are Fleshcrawl and Obscenity. I can't decide which I love more since they are providing totally different styles of Death Metal, but both meant much to me and influenced me a lot! At the moment I'm totally in love with the new stuff of our friends of Diabolical Imperium which released a great new album last year which has to be checked out by any fan of American Death Metal! The new Deserted Fear-album will also be a total killer and prepare for the best album which Obscure Infinity has recorded so far! I visited them in the studio and also heard an early roughmix and I was totally blown away! American Death Metal meets Swedish Death Metal meets Black Metal! I'm sure this will be a classic. Oh and then there are my brothers from Sulphur Aeon who also released a fantastic debut last year and got phenomenal reactions from all over the world for their awesome „swallowed by the ocean's tide“-record. As you see, there are many great bands here :)




9.Does Reckless Manslaughter play "live" very often or do you prefer the studio?



We totally prefer to play live! There is nothing which could be cooler than presenting your stuff to an interested audience! Usually we play about 15 gigs per year, which isn't so much. But it's okay for us, because of our work- and family-duties. So every gig is a big event for us and we give our best to make everytime a big party :D



10.Does the band have any tours or shows coming up if yes please tell the readers where you will be playing? Who are some bands you have shared the stage with?



The next gig is at our favourite place at the „AJZ Bahndamm“ in Wermelskirchen and we will share the stage with such awesome acts as Ecocide, Lifeless, Morbid Flesh and Funeral Whore. It will be a night to remember for sure :D After that we have a gig with Wound and Brutally Deceased in Wolfsburg and in December we contribute at a brutal Death Metal-concert in Paderborn. Until today we shared the stage with such awesome acts like Beheaded, Defeated Sanity, Possessed, Brutal Truth, Sadistic Intent, Dehumanized, Cruciamentum, Chapel of Disease, Orphalis, Arroganz, Tombthroat, Mass Infection, Putrid Pile, Cropment or, in May 2011, even with the mighty Morgoth! Not the worst list, uhh? :D




11.What does the term underground metal mean to you?



Underground means insurgency against the mainstream! Fuck trends, fuck moneymakers and followers! Underground means devotion and dedication to the music we love so much: Death fucking Metal!



12.Leimy you handle the vocals for the band when did you first become interested in singing/growling? Do you do anything special to keep your throat/voice healthy?



At the age of 16 I began to record my own growls while singing to some old Six Feet Under stuff. I did a little competition who sounds more brutal and who can growl deeper with an old friend and there we discovered our talent for this singing-style. I loved it to experiment with the voice and I always wanted to found my own Death Metal-band. Well, it took me 8 years until this dream come true, but better late than never ;) Before we rehearse or play a gig I always warm up my voice with 10 minutes of different vocal-warm-ups (I discovered them from the „zen of screaming“-DVD from Melissa Cross) which totally sounds strange and bothersome, but it really helps to pretend vocal-chord-damage! I only can recommend this to any extreme-singer!


13.Leimy who are some of your favorite vocalists? Do you currently play any other instruments?


My favourite vocalists are Jason Avery (Ex-Monstrosity), Chris Barnes (only the „Tomb of the mutilated/The Bleeding”-era), Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth, Ex-Bloodbath), Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity, Ex-Bloodbath), George Fisher (Cannibal Corpse) and Tommy Dahlström (Aeon, Defaced Creation). I tried out different instruments but I have no feeling for rhythm so I decided to let it be ;)



14.Leimy do you or any of the members of Reckless Manslaughter currently play in side bands? If yes please tell the readers a little about them?



At the moment only Chris, our bass-player, is playing in another band. The band is called „The Mystery“ and it is totally different to our stuff. It is melodic Heavy Metal with a female singer. Really not my kind of music ;)  Dennis used to play at the classic Doom Metal-band „For god's sake“ but they unfortunately disbanded last year without releasing their already recorded, really awesome album which was totally influenced by Candlemass or even Black Sabbath. Really a shame that it was never released....

 Interview with Chiral of Chiral done by Patrick

1.Hello when did you first get the idea to form Chiral? How did you come up with the name of the band? For  the readers who have never heard Chiral's music how would you describe the music?


I had the idea of Chiral at the end of 2013 when I recorded a demo version of Sulfur, which is included in my first demo “Winter Eternal”.
I got the inspiration for the name from an episode of “Breaking Bad”, the famous TV series.
I’d like to describe Chiral’s music as Elite Black Metal, which is a term that I like very much. By the way my music is black metal with traces of prog rock, death metal, doom metal and ambient sounds.





2.When you started Chiral did you plan to keep it a one-man band or have you searched for other musicians  to join?


No, I always wanted to keep Chiral as a one-man band since the very beginning.




3.If you had the opportunity to work with any musicians {past or present} who are some musicians you would love to work with?



Well, I’ll be very pleased to work with Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth, he’s surely one of my main inspirations.
I also be very happy to work with Steven Wilson, I think he’s one the brightest minds that we have today in music.



4. Chiral has released the debut E.P {Digitally} "Abisso" how long did it take you to write the music for these song? Where do you draw inspiration for the lyrics?



I spent about 2 months to write the music part.
Well, actually I cannot say exactly where I draw the inspiration for the lyrics. Simply I needed to talk about some stuff that really mind to me.

6.I know Black Plague Records is supposed to release the cd version soon. Any idea when it might be  released? Will their be any bonus songs on the cd version?



It should come out in early 2015. And no, it doesn’t contain any bonus song, but it’ll come in an awesome jewel case with a fucking good cover art…isn’t enough? Hahaha



7.How has the response been from the fans? What about the press?



Not bad at all so far. Can you believe that some fans, and also a couple of ‘zines, defines “Abisso” as a masterpiece!?!
I know that it’s not a masterpiece at all, and maybe those comments are overrated, but I fell happy anyway to know that someone really enjoys my stuff.




8.Have you started working on the next demo or full-length? Any idea how many songs will be on the next  release?



Yes, I do. But there’re a mere draft songs at the moment, so I don’t know yet if I’ll include all in my next release.
Maybe it’s too early to talk about a new album, but yes, I’m working on something.



9.Have you ever considered playing live or is Chiral a studio only project?



I decided to keep Chiral only as a studio project at the moment.





10.You come out of the mighty Italian metal  scene. What is your opinion of Italy's metal  scene?




Actually I don’t think that the Italian metal scene could really be called mighty. Personally I don’t like so much the extreme music we have in Italy. Maybe I shouldn’t say so, but it’s just what I think.



11.Who are your all-time favorite bands from Italy? Are there any new bands you feel the readers should check out?



I said before I don’t appreciated very much the Italian metal, but there’re few really huge bands. My favorites are: Chaos Plague, finest prog death; Solitude Project, depressive black/rock, I listened to their latest split with Vita Odiosa at least a thousand time; Monumentum, well, what can I say? Simply Magnificent!
And if I have to suggest some new bands to keep an eye on, I’ll probably say: Woman Is The Earth (atmospheric black metal from USA), HaatE (black ambient from Italy) and Bròn (ambient black from Scotland).



12.At what age did you become interested in  playing the guitars? Are you self taught or did you take lessons when first learning?



I started playing the guitar when I was 10 years old. I took a couple years lessons at the very beginning, then I’ve decided to develop my skill on my own.
Anyway, I truly believe that having a good teacher it’s absolutely crucial in a musical instrument learning process.






13.Who are some of your influences/favorite guitarists? Do you play any other instruments?


My all times favorites guitarist are:
Pat Metheny, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Petrucci, Kiko Loureiro and Gary Moore.
And yes, I play bass guitar and drum (just a little bit) beside guitar. I also learned to play harmonica some years ago.




14.You also handle the vocals for the band when did you first start singing/screaming? Do you do anything to  keep your voice/throat healthy? Who are some of your favorite vocalists?




That’s a good question! Actually I don’t know when I started to scream, but probably no more than a couple of years ago.
But I’m not a singer at all. Yes, I like to scream and growl all along my music but surely I don’t have the proper technique for these kind of vocals. Simply I try to imitate my favorite singers, and that’s how my scream comes out. So I don’t have secret tips to maintain my throat health. But I can suggest you to warm up your throat and vocal-chords every times before you start to sing/practice.
Anyway my favorite vocalist are:
Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth), the best ever for me, period.
Niilo Sevanen (Insomnium).
Jon Nödtveidt (Dissection), R.I.P. but he’s still one of the best.
