Glamsdring interview conducted by Jay posted on 11-17-24

Hi this is Jay reporting from Bogota, Colombia

Today I’m talking with Rufus from UK one-man BM outfit, Glamsdring

Hi man, thanks for taking the time to talk with our readers…

No problem at all man, it's a pleasure

When/where / why was Glamsdring created?

So a couple of years ago I had a band with my friends at school, which was kind of a crossover thrash band. Basically around this time I was seriously getting into metal to the point of obsession, and I noticed that lots of people in bands had black metal side projects - Phil Anselmo from Pantera for example. So I basically thought “Why not?” And started writing the 2023 demo in 2022. The material kind of lay around doing nothing until I finally got recording it in 2023. Eventually me trying to follow a trend of having a side project turned into a genuine fascination and love for black metal. That band I had with my friends doesn't exist anymore and Glamsdring is 100% my main focus.

Tell us about the first 2 releases, 2023 demo and the EP, Svarte Skogen…..

Yeah, so as I mentioned 2023 Demo was just me figuring out what I wanted to do in terms of black metal… there's quite a range of styles present on that demo, like Insufficience and Die Hoffnungslosigkeit being basically DSBM tracks and Tulikultti, more of a melodic black metal epic which I'm working on a re-recording of for an upcoming release which you'll hear about soon. And yeah the demo after that, which I called an EP for reasons that I don't really remember, was just a continuation of that really, but I think it was more aggressive in some ways - rawer, faster etc. I'm proud of them for sure.

What are the influences behind the lyrics and music you write?

Generally in terms of lyrics they're quite spontaneous. I'll pick up the mic and decide “Okay, I'll sing about WW2 today”, or whatever. So there aren't really many lyrical influences as such, but I find myself coming back to last events in my music. History is so boundlessly interesting and I love singing about it. Maybe I'm the Sabaton of black metal, hahaha.

Have you thought about taking Glamsdring to the live stage as a full band?

Oh yeah, absolutely - You're gonna hopefully hear more about that pretty soon.

What are your musical influences?

Inside of metal, Opeth I really love and have loads of influence on what I write not so much on the first two releases but more on later stuff I've been working on. Also, the live album Levende i Bronshøj Vandtårn by Solbrud from Denmark is one of my favourite albums of all time and is a huge influence on me. Black Medium Current by Dødheimsgard is alsoy favourite album of all time so obviously that rubs off on me quite a lot. But all of those bands influence more the stuff that is unreleased right now, whereas the two releases being printed on Masters Of Kaos are much more straightforward - I can remember writing the material and just thinking “You know what, I'm just going full on, straightforward black metal”. So it wasn't a particular album or band which influenced me so much on those two.

Do you have any other projects apart from Glamsdring?

No, but I'd like to start one - Glamsdring is quite melodic so I'd like to do something on the more brutal side of black metal, like Tsjuder or Marduk type thing. Desert Northern Hell and Panzer Division are two great albums and I'd love to record something like them.

We all know UK is a seething hub for Metal..recommend some good local bands for our readers to check out…

Cradle of Filth, hahaha. In all seriousness, everyone knows about Winterfylleth already, but if you've somehow missed Nikharskag you need to check them out. Very similar to the band Dissection and it's really good. They're also pretty well known though - I’m not really part of the “scene” here so if you want underground bands I’m not really the person to ask to be honest.

What is your opinion on the current BM scene in general?

Good question. I like that it’s so big now, lots of subgenres and all. But I hate the Mayhem TikTok kids. Ultimately though, I do actually like that the scene has grown into something huge and global. There are so many good bands now, which is a result of the scene being bigger, which can only be a good thing.

What are your plans with Glamsdring for the long term future?

Well, I’m hoping to start playing live with a band soon, which will be awesome. There’s also a full-length in the works and I even have some material written for the full-length after that as well as a couple of splits I’ve got lined up. Exciting times!

If you could play with any band or musician, live or dead, who would it eb and why?

Great question. I took ages thinking about this one but I’m gonna have to be a basic bitch and say Fenriz. Absolute legend who played in some of my favourite bands and played a huge role in the evolution of the genre. People also forget that he’s an incredible drummer too, because on the Holy Trinity of Darkthrone albums, which he’s most famous for, he doesn’t show off his chops so much, but if you listen to Soulside Journey and the Goatlord demos you realise he’s an absolute monster drummer. So yeah, I’d say Fenriz, he’s a legend.

Do you have any words of wisdom for any young musicians looking to follow in your footsteps?

Well I guess the project is really only getting started, but from the footsteps that I have laid down, I would say to just get started. Just record stuff. And who cares if it sounds like shit? You’;; get something good eventually and someone’s bound to like it. Have no fear.

Would you like to add anything for our readers??

Make sure to buy the CD for 2023 Demo/Svarte Skogen from Masters of Kaos and also to follow my Bandcamp page where I post all my updates. I am hoping to start some social media pages soon so stay tuned.

A massive thanks to Rufus.. What are your plans for the future? Are you working on new material?

Recently a new second guitarist joined us and we are currently working on a cover song which we are recording for a compilation, new material is slowly being made as we are already playing one of the songs live.

Poland is infamous for it’s thriving BM scene and top bands.. recommend some newer bands for our readers to check out…

From new Polish BM bands I recommend Brzask and Devorzhum

What are your top 5 BM albums of all time and why?

Burzum Filosofem - for uncompromisingness.

Immortal Battles in the north - for creating their own world, ideas in BM.

Darkthrone A blaze in the northern sky - for an old school approach to record-making.

Satyricon Nemesis Divina for skillfully weaving keyboards into extreme playing.

And from Poland Kat -  Oddech wymarłych światów, for the first black metal lyrics in the native language I heard.

Where do you think you would be today if you had never become a BM musician?

I have no idea...I've been playing this kind of music since 1994 and I can't imagine any other approach to life anymore

What advice would you give to any musicians looking to follow in your footsteps?

What matters is determination and not looking back. Only a few win and come out on the other side when things don't go their way.

Would you like to add anything for our readers?
Thank you for the interview , support the underground! It is for you that we create new things.

Rogi w górę!!!

Interview with  Ominum  done on 11-16-24

1. Hello please introduce yourselves to the readers?

We are Ominum, a thrash metal three piece from Gothenburg, Sweden, featuring:

Berno: Guitar and Vocals

Erik: Drums

Richard: Bass

2. When did you first discover thrash metal and what is it about this genre that you love so much?

Berno: Pretty much as soon as I started playing guitar when I was around 13-14. I started out because of Rage Against the Machine but within about a year I discovered Metallica and from there I got hooked on old school thrash which also led me to death metal a little later. This era of metal and this sound is just what I gravitate towards and I think it has the perfect mix of speed, heaviness, aggression and technicality.

Richard: For me it was with the band Megadeth around 2009. When I first heard their album Rust in Peace I was absolutely blown away and that was a moment when I had my first thirst for more extreme Metal if you will. After that it was bands like Slayer, Testament and so on.

Erik: I was into heavy metal fairly early as a kid, with Iron Maiden being my favourite band. Eventually one of my classmates showed me Metallica, I think it was from …And Justice For All which really got my attention and led me to explore heavier and faster music. Once I heard Slayer for the first time I simply couldn’t believe that music could be this extreme and sound this good! From that point on there was no going back and I was hooked. While I’ve since developed a taste in a lot of metal-genres other than Thrash, this music will always hold a special place in my heart as it really was the start of my musical journey as a drummer/musician and not just as a music fan.

3. Who were the first bands that caught your attention? Who are some of the current bands that you have been listening to?

Berno: The first few metal bands I got into after Metallica were Slayer, Morbid Angel and Anthrax, with Overkill and Exodus playing a big part as well a little later. After that I became the biggest old school Thrash/early Death Metal nerd and I’ve spent a lot of time listening to most of the classic bands from that era. Recently in the last few years I mostly listen to ‘’the scene’’ when it comes to Metal, and by that I mean the new wave of Thrash/Death bands. A few of the best bands I’ve found in the last while are Inhuman Condition, Schizophrenia, Inculter, Annihilation Process, Exul, Intent and Assault to name a few.

Richard: Megadeth, Testament, Conflagrator, Exodus, were bands that I think I started to listen to. But now I listen to so many other ones: Sodom, Violator, Schizophrenia, Kreator and Forbidden just to name a few. I’ve recently found a local thrash band called Warfect which I really like!

Erik: Like I mentioned already, I was a big fan of Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Slayer in my early teens. I had a thirst for more extreme music however, and soon found myself getting into Death Metal bands with Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel being two of the most influential on me both as a metal fan and as a musician. My musical interests have always been very broad and I’ve listened to tons of music throughout the years, metal and non-metal. Lately, I have been hyper-focusing on Meshuggah, as I find their music super interesting and engaging as a drummer. Other than that, I have had a bit of a Death Metal resurgence, going back to a lot of bands that I listened to in my youth and some that I simply never got around listening to. This has coincided with the current direction of the band to be more extreme, in part by incorporating more Death Metal elements into our song writing and sound.

4.When did you first meet the other members of the band and was it long before you all started Ominum? How did you all choose Ominum as the name for the band?

Erik and Berno have been friends since early elementary school and started playing music together when they were 13-14 years old, eventually playing together in a band called In Sanity a few years later. Back then there weren’t many youth thrash metal bands in the Gothenburg area, so naturally, us and the other people into this kind of music met at shows and hung out together. It was during this time we first met Richard, at the time playing bass in Sonic Assault and we’ve all known each other since then. In Sanity broke up in 2012 and around 2014 Erik and Berno were the two members of that band who started jamming together again. We tried a few other people out for bass and vocals but nobody fit in enough to join full time. Things weren’t as serious until we released a demo in 2018 and started recording our debut album pretty immediately after that. It was also during this time that we settled on the name Ominum for the band, which is something we came up with after a long period of thinking of different names. For the first few years our Facebook page was called Shaytan, but this was always just meant as a placeholder and not a serious band name. Some early ideas were Psychosis and Monument, which eventually became song and album titles instead. When the time came around to record the bass for the first album, Richard was an obvious choice given his excellent talents. He initially did it as a favour to us and apparently he wasn’t sick and tired of us even after all the recording and so decided to join the band as a full member. It was also during this time we settled on Berno doing the vocals after a period of trying to find a singer between the demo and the album, completing our line-up as a trio.

5. Who would you say are the bands biggest influences and have they stayed the same over the years? For the readers who have never heard Ominum's music, how would you best describe it?

The core influences are definitely the old school bands that we all started out listening to, but all of us listen to so much more music both within and outside of Metal, which in one way or another creeps its way into our playing, songwriting and sound. We’d describe our music as a modern take on the golden era of thrash metal focusing on heaviness and interesting songwriting, with a bunch of other influences sprinkled in.

6. War For Peace is the band's newest EP that was released through Witches Brew Rec. When did you and the band first come in contact with this great label?

We came in contact with Witches Brew in 2022 when we released our debut album Monument on CD through the label. It was a success so it was really a no-brainer to work with Cheryl and her label again for this EP when it was time to do a CD version of it.

7. How long did it take the band to write the music on War For Peace? Does the whole band take part in the writing process or does one member usually write everything?

We tend to sit around on riffs for a long time and some of the parts on this EP are already almost 10 years old, but the majority of the music was written between 2018 to 2020. For our debut album and this EP most of the music has been written and preliminarily arranged by Berno, which we’ve then worked on to finalise together. The songs don’t really click and become what they are until we’ve all worked on the material for a while and added our own personal flair to the parts. The songs also become even better when they’re already recorded and we start playing them live. Since this summer we’ve started working on the next album and this time we’re making a conscious effort to write most of the music together in the rehearsal space from the start.

8. Where do you all draw inspiration for the lyrics and what are some subjects written about on the new release?

We try to write about subjects that interest us and give some kind of  commentary on it. Mostly it’s social issues, war, injustice and other man made horrors but we also have a few songs dealing with more personal or sensitive topics if you want to call it that. For example our song Epitaph deals with loss.

9. Has Ominum had the chance to play very many live shows over the years? What have been some of the bands most memorable shows over the years? Who are some bands you all have shared the stage with?

Unfortunately we haven’t played live as much as we would have liked. We spent a lot of time before and during the pandemic writing and recording the album and the EP and during almost all of that time the band only consisted of Berno and Erik. It wasn’t until Richard joined the band and the pandemic was over that we could start focusing on booking shows with our first being in early 2023 at our favourite local metal bar, the legendary The Abyss here in Gothenburg. We’ve managed to play there a few more times since and have also had a few very good shows in Stockholm. Some cool bands we’ve played with are Eradikated, Sonic Assault, Swartzheim and Ravened to name a few.

10. Are there any shows or tours planned in support of War For Peace? If yes, where will the band be playing?

We have two more shows coming up in Gothenburg at venues we haven’t played before which we are looking forward to, one to close out this year and another to start the next one off. Other than that we are planning a few shows for next year and it looks like we’ll be more active than ever in more cities around Sweden at least. No tour or anything outside of Sweden is planned as of yet but we’d love to be able to get out and play anywhere and everywhere as soon as possible!

11. Ominum comes out of Sweden's thrash metal scene. What are your thoughts on Sweden's thrash scene over the years?

We’ve been in the scene here in one way or another since we started and it’s definitely gotten better since then. When we started out Metalcore was the most popular thing which we definitely weren’t happy with as edgy teenagers, and Swedish-style Death Metal has always been bigger here than the kind of Metal we like. There’s always been good Thrash Metal bands here though. We have to shout out Conflagrator from back in the day, who absolutely schooled the rest of us in the same age on how Thrash Metal should be played, but sadly they’re not active anymore. Some other cool bands we’d like to mention, both active and inactive are Warfect, Tyranex, Immaculate and Paranorm to name a few. At the moment there’s also quite an active and successful resurgence of bands a few years younger than us playing this kind of music, with Eradikated, Eternal Evil, Sarcator and Bloodstain being out on a Swedish tour at the moment. Finally, we can’t talk about Thrash Metal in Scandinavia without mentioning Tantara from Norway. They’re unfortunately not active anymore but their debut album is probably the biggest and best thing in New Wave Thrash to come out of this whole northern area.

12. Who are your all-time favourite Swedish Thrash bands? Are there any new bands that you could recommend to the readers?

Mostly the bands we mentioned during the previous question.

13. Besides working in Ominum do any of the members currently work with any other bands or solo projects? If yes please tell the readers a little about them?

Richard: I’m a full time member for the melodic metal band Art Nation and also bassist for the symphonic metal project named Medusian. I play bass guitar in both of these projects.

Berno: No, this is the only thing I’ve got going on music-wise.

Erik: I also play drums for the Technical Thrash Metal band Sonic Assault. We have released one full-length concept album that’s got quite a different sound to Ominum, incorporating a lot of influences from other extreme metal genres, but with a style that is still rooted in Thrash Metal. It is unsure if the Thrash sound will stay in any future releases but our debut album is highly recommended and honestly a must for fans of Thrash Metal bands such as Vektor! I also have a hardcore project together with one of the members from Sonic Assault that will hopefully make its way into the public eye sometime early next year…

14.When you need to take a break from working on new music or band business what do you like to do in your free time?

Berno: I try to work out as much as possible and spend as much time with friends and family as I can.

Richard: I absolutely enjoy gaming when I have some down time, both console and PC. I also enjoy visiting historical places whenever I travel or just around Gothenburg/Sweden.

Erik: Right now, I don’t have a lot of free time as I’m studying at University and working part-time alongside my musical projects. I try to be active when I can, working out and going on walks in nature. I also keep quite a few plants at home to tend to which I guess has become more and more of a hobby. Heathen Deity interview done by Jay Posted on 11-7-24

Hails this is Jay reporting from Bogota Colombia

Today I’m lucky enough to be talking to Dagon from the mighty UK Black Metal legend, Heathen Deity

Dagon, thanks for taking some time from your busy schedule to talk with our readers…

Not a problem brother.. Thank you for the opportunity.

1- First question, is of course about the new album, Satan’s Kingdom, I believe it’s due in November…. The debut single, Fucking Worthless is fantastic, and, if the rest of the album is up to the same standard, it’s going to be a truly amazing release…

Tell us how long it took to record the album, when/where it was recorded, and who had an evil hand in writing the new tracks?

That is correct “Satan's Kingdom” will be out first on CD at the end of November, released by our brothers and sisters at “Cult Never Dies.”

That the recording process for this album was a lot shorter than our debut “True English Black Metal” is quite the understatement. When the actual writing started is hard to determine, as we never really stop writing.

As always, Azrael wrote the music at his home studio. He recorded a number of demo versions for me to write the lyrics with and also to make any arrangement and structural changes too, we have worked together for so long now we both know how we write and record so structurally the songs are usually exactly how I need them to be, but there can always be development as the songs grow and evolve.

Once we have fully written the music and lyrics, we pass on the finished demo songs to the rest of the band to learn their parts in readiness to record. All the guitars where recorded at Azrael’s home studio, all the vocals at my studio. The drums were recorded at “The Praesidium” by Julian Foster , and also mixed and mastered by Julian.

2 – Run us through the track list, from start to finish…

1. Hark! The Ravens Cry

2. Embrace the Essence of Satan – Ephesians 6:66

3. The Swine Lead the Swine

4. Satan’s Kingdom

5. Fucking Worthless

6. Chapel of Filth

7. The Son of Obscurity

8. For Thine is the Kingdom

9. Satanae Albion

10. Burning Angel Wings

Each song has its own twists and turns musically, some are blatant and some I think will really test the listener. Ill let you decide which one is which.

3 - How is this album different to the previous masterpiece, True English Black Metal?

I would say “Satan's Kingdom” is a natural progression to “TEBM” in many ways. Our song writing has developed, no doubt about that. We always try and push ourselves, not in the sense to deliberately out do the last release but when music has been such a big part of your life, you have to keep it interesting and challenging for yourself foremost.

4 - What is your personal favourite track on the album, and why?

I think one of the most, let's say, without wanting to sound too pretentious, future iconic songs on this album is “Fucking Worthless” It has a certain feeling to it, not so much light hearted by any means but to me it doesn’t feel as serious and intense, especially to perform live, it’s actually a really good song to play for an audience, we also made a music video for it with our brothers from Szum who filmed the whole thing over two very different and very exhausting days

5 - Satan’s Kingdom is being released on the legendary UK label, Kult Never Dies… tell our readers when and where they can get a copy….

As mentioned, “Satan's Kingdom” will be out on Cult Never Dies at the end of November on CD. Early next year the Vinyl and Cassette editions will be also released. The CD will be available via CNDs website, https://www.cultneverdies.com/ and available from the band in the live arena.

6 – This album is really the culmination of 25 years of heathenry, touring, writing, rehearsing… what do you see next??

More of the same, we are far from finished musically. Nothing is planned so far in regards to another album or anything, I have never been one to plan too far ahead in regard to music, it makes the whole thing too structured and almost forced. I have never seen the need for artists to release something every year, it doesn’t seem very natural to me. I mean, I know that bands that are maybe contracted to produce a release yearly, I couldn’t work like that.

7 – You’ve spent the last year well-deservedly celebrating 25 years as a band… which is a truly admirable milestone... with lots of gigs and some special edition releases… Why do you think HD has outlasted so many of your peers? What has kept you together for so long, and without losing the original direction and sound that you set out to follow and create?

Maybe we are just stubborn, we don't think about it well at least I don't, we aren't hung on a particular sound or song formula. There is no direction apart from our own path.

8- HD is a well-respected and renowned live band… Tell us about the gigs you’ve done over the last year or so.. and about the gigs you have coming later for 2024.. will you be touring to promote Satan’s Kingdom?? I’m sure many people would crawl over broken glass to see a HD international tour….

We have been lucky enough to be asked to open proceedings again for “Cosmic Void” festival in London this year, It’s one of the best festivals in England in my opinion and they always has amazing bands, massive names and genres, also acts that don’t usually perform live, so it’s a real mixed bag of music and emotions

We performed at the last “Darkness over Cumbria” festival in the deep woods of Fellfoot, This is an amazing platform for a black metal festival, literally being in a wood overlooking the majestic lake Windermere. This festival and location is very important to us and too the whole UK scene.

In October we made our debut in Scotland, performing in Edinburgh for the first time. We hope to return next year for sure.

As far as shows for next year we have nothing booked in so far, so Promoters get in touch!

9 – Deviating from the theme of the new album… You are old school, you’ve seen the scene grow, evolve, blossom and die and be reborn, 25 years is a long time… What is your opinion on the current scene in UK at the moment? You obviously get to share the stage and hear many bands there.. which ones stand out and why?

There are many bands coming and going, there always have been and there always will be, its not for me to say who stands out or not, it’s personal tastes so get out and see it for yourself, show your support.

Like you said, we are old school and I have spent many years building relationships with the so called old guard of the scene, I consider a good majority of them friends and brothers, because of this, for me´, it takes more than liking the music someone may make or perform. I need to have a bond with the person, I guess the prospect sounds a little unreasonable and borderline ludicrous, but music is a very powerful   and personal thing. A band may be good on paper , right up my street so to speak, but if for some reason you have come across as a cunt, your music isn’t worth the time of day to me. I don’t make any apologies for my feelings.

10 – What has been the best and the worst experience as a band over the last 25 years?

I have no idea, I don’t tend to dwell on if an experience is bad or good, it’s all relative and they all help to develop you as a musician. I personally thrive on performing live, so when things don’t go as planned or rehearsed, that especially forms a very powerful memory, notably when the situation sparks a change in a song or a section that we end up incorporating into the live set.

11- If you could turn back time and change anything over the last 25 years, would you do it and what would you do differently?

Nothing. I don’t see the point.

12 – What advice would you give to youngsters and up and coming artists looking to emulate your success and follow in your footsteps?

Don’t try and emulate what we or anyone has done, forge your own path based on your own beliefs.

Make sure the reasons you have for creating music are true to yourself, and lastly don’t have any pre conceived make believe notions about touring the world with your band, keep your feet on the ground keep your goals grounded.

13 – is there anything you would like to add for our readers?

We hope to see you on the road in 2025, keep supporting the underground scene wherever you may be.

Don’t forget… Satan’s Kingdom will be available in November from Cult Never Dies in UK..                  Heathen Deity                                                                                                                                              https://heathendeity.bandcamp.com/                                                                                                             https://www.facebook.com/heathendeityofficial                                                                                          https://www.instagram.com/heathen_deity/                                                                                                 Cult Never Dies                                                                                                                                              https://www.cultneverdies.com/                                                                                                                  https://www.facebook.com/CultNeverDies/                                                                                                https://www.instagram.com/cultneverdies/

Heathen Deity--Satan's Kingdom cd{Cult Never Dies}review done by Jay Posted on 11-7-24

Well, it’s been a long 3 years since the release of True English Black Metal. Now, finally, here we are with the much anticipated sophomore album by UK Black Metal legends, Heathen Deity.

The album opens with a haunting intro, Hark! Ravens cry, with some lovely acoustic guitars, (a theme that continues throughout), adding some lovely rich tones and medieval atmospheres… building up to some military march style drums and clean chants….

And then no messing around, straight into some blistering trademark UKBM… Embrace The Essence Of Satan (and they certainly do). Frantic guitars and blasting drums, crowned by Dagon’s terrifying screeching… A great track to open, and 100% Heathen Deity undoubtedly from the start.

Track 3, The Swine leads The Swine, starts off with lovely doomy riffs, and then straight back into it, full speed satanic madness with some killer guitar riffs. Not the longest on the album, but at nearly 8 minutes, quite an epic song. Perfectly done.

Track 4, the title track and one of my favourites, is another rip-roaring sonic rampage. Head first into fast tremolo riffs and these fantastic blasting drums…. And then it steamrollers its way through to a much welcomed and excellently orchestrated acoustic guitar part with male choirs to give a rest and lull you into that false sense of calm, before the train hits you again…. A brilliantly worked song with fantastic tempo and atmosphere changes…

Fuckin’ Worthless is next up, the first single from the album ….a slightly slower affair, again, with more stand out drumming and catchier riffs, as Dagon spews forth his blasphemies…. Then building into a furious diabolical crescendo… Definitely a more radio-friendly track. This will be a killer live.

Track 6, Chapel Of Filth really slows it down and takes the listener off into darker bygone times… a great acoustic composition. This album is full of these layered acoustic guitars as I said before, and it really does give it character. A perfect balance between speed and tranquility. The male choirs in this track are also very ghostly.. I usually don’t like clean vocals in BM, but these are done in a haunting, Gregorian chant style that complements the atmosphere so well.

And here we go again.. break neck speed like a Black Metal tornado….. The Son Of Obscurity picks it straight back up …. Perhaps the fastest on the album, and definitely the heaviest… Another superb acoustic change to drop the tempo in the middle ... Heathen Deity do that so well.

The follow up, For Thine Is The Kingdom, is another acoustic piece, beautifully played and written. Again, absorbing the listener, like a medieval time slip… an excellent composition with great finger picking. I shall say it once again, this album is rich in these amazing acoustic parts, and it really makes it.

Satane Albion opens with more acoustic guitar (but DO NOT be deceived).. and slowly builds up into an epic, anthem like hymn to The Dark Lord…. A slower doomier, piece, and at over 8 minutes, one of the longest tracks on the album… I can see this becoming a regular scream along at gigs…

The album closes with Burning Angel Wings… another gentle build up, before it breaks out into full blown high speed Heathenry…. Dagon produces some truly diabolical screams in this, enough to send a shiver down a man’s spine…. The longest on the album, this is a spectacular curtain closer… Encore!

Overall, this is a real stand out album. One that really shines. Amazing orchestration, especially the acoustic guitars. They really give the tracks a character of their own and such a fitting atmosphere. I understand that a session drummer played on these tracks. Whoever he is, he’s top notch. A1. The guitar and bass work is also brilliant 2 great guitarists who clearly have an understanding between them and go together like hellfire and The Devil. And then there is the vocalist… definitely his best work to date. Truly terrifying in places.

One of the best albums of the year by far. I will be pre ordering the vinyl immediately.

Due 30th November on the legendary UK label, Cult Never Dies. Don’t miss it.
