1.Hello please introduce yourselves to the readers?
Hey, Patrick. I’m Warranat, the vocalist of Oldskull, old school death metal band hailing from Thailand. Oldskull was formed in May 2015 as a three-piece, including Saran (Savage Deity), Nocturnal Power (Bonghill, ex-Goatchrist666, ex-Terroreign) and Warranat (Bonghill, ex-Goatchrist666, ex-Terroreign). In early 2016, Patiwat (Nocturnal Damnation, Reincarnated, Masochist, ex-Zygoatsis) and AKK66 (Nuclear Warfare) joined and make the band stronger.
2.When did you first discover death metal music and who were the first bands you listened to? Who are some of the current bands that you have been listening to?
The very first death metal band that I discovered is Cannibal Corpse. That was when I’m 13-14 years old. And I still clearly remember the track that hit me, it was Devoured by Vermin. The current bands that I’ve been listening are ranking from death metal to stoner/doom metal, which are Stygian Dark, Acid Mammoth and Discarded Self.
3.Oldskull was started in 2015 when did you and the other members first decide to start this band?How did you choose Oldskull as the name of the band?
The idea of creating old school death metal band was from Saran. At first, it’s just a three-piece, with Saran on guitars, Nocturnal Power on bass and me on drums and vocals. After we discussing the concepts and several potential names, we’ve decided to use Oldskull, because it’s a simple name but describe what we truly are perfectly. Later in early 2016 Patiwat and AKK66 joined us on guitars and drums respectively.

5.Who would you say are Oldskull's biggest influences?For the readers unfamilar with the band how would you best describe the bands musicial style?
Our biggest influences are Benediction, Bolt Thrower, Obituary and Death. Our music is mid-tempo death metal with hellish riffs, skull-crushing drums, and soul- pulverizing growls.
6.Nether Hollow Of No Return is the bands debut full length how long did it take the band to write the music for the debut?Does the whole band take part in the writing process or does one member usually write everything?
I think it took almost 3 years until it’s all done. Saran is responsible for songwriting, except 1 song in that album which he co-writing with AKK66. And I’m responsible for the lyrics. After saran finishing the songs, we’d rehearse it and adjust things as we see fit.
7.Where does the band draw inspiration for the lyrics and what are some topics written about on the debut release?Which usually comes first the music or the lyrics?
The main concepts of Oldskull is mystery, darkness and death. More than that I also explore the concepts of extermination to mankind. Plus, there is one song that I wrote about mental illness, depression and suffering. That song is Murky Waters.
8.Besides the debut Nether Hollow Of No Return does the band have any other releases or merchandise currently availible for the readers to purchase? If yes what is availible and where can the readers buy it?

9.Before the pandemic shut everything down did Oldskull ever play live or do you prefer working in the studio?What have been some of the bands most memorable shows so far?
Yes, we’re keen to play live. The most memorable show for us gotta be at Mamat Fest 2018 in Malaysia.
10.What does Undeground Metal mean to you?
Good question, but I’ll put it short. Underground Metal is what’s people truly support each other, less money and commercial thing, just pure passion and dedication to the music and subculture.
11.Oldskull comes out of Thailand's death metal scene what is your opinion of the scene in Thailand?
Thai metal scene is rather small, but tight and strong. People supports bands, bands support each other, so it’s like an unending cycle. Brutal death metal scene would be the biggest one here, then death metal, black metal and thrash metal.
12.Who are your all-time favorite bands coming out of Thailand and are their any new bands you feel the readers should check out?
Our all-time favourite bands from our own country are gonna be Heretic Angels, Surrender of Divinity, Lacerate and Zygoatsis. Those are pioneers of Thai underground metal and have paved the way for the next generation. About new bands worth to be known are Savage Deity, Nuclear Warfare, Reincarnated, Shambles, Lotus of Darkness, Genocidal Sodomy and Ecchymosis.
13.Besides bands are their any honest and reliable labels and distro's you could recomend to the readers?
Of course, the reliable labels from our country are including Incoffin Productions, Sick Chainsaw Productions, Inhuman Assault Productions and Slava Productions. And if you have a chance to make a trip to Thailand in the future, make sure you’d visit Triple Six Shop, Metal Quest, Menupleng and Heaven and Hell Shop. Those are most reliable metal shop from our country.
14.Besides working in Oldskull do any of the members currently work with any other bands or solo projects? If yes please tell the readers a little about them?
Yes, we all have other bands. Me, Saran and Nocturnal Power are in Bonghill. Saran is also in Savage Deity. Patiwat is in Reincarnated, Nocturnal Damnation and Masochist. AKK66 is in Nuclear Warfare.
15.When you need to take a break from working on new music or band business what do you like to do in your free time?
Just ordinary stuff, drinking, smoking, watching movies, and so on.
