Interview with Bleeding Spawn done by Patrick posted on 9-3-20

1.Hello please introduce yourself to the readers?
Darius : Hey I’m Darius I am the guitarist for bleeding spawn and for displeased disfigurement
Dominic : Hey what’s up , I’m Dominic I’m the bassist and vocalist for bleeding spawn and for
displeased disfigurement

2.When did you first discover death metal music and who were the first bands you discovered? Who
are some of the current bands that have caught your attention?
Darius : I discovered death metal in 1992 the first extreme band I got hold of was napalm death
“Harmony corruption” and Cannibal corpse “Butchered at birth “ and then Obituary followed with
:cause of death” But the first bands I got hold of that was metal was GWAR and Metallica
Newel slam and brutal death bands are hitting the spot like Analepsy , Extermination
dismemberment , Kraanium
Dominic : I discovered death metal through Darius , I was 14 when we met in 2002 for the first time
but he have me my first death metal album at age 15, I was listening to dimmu borgir and slipknot
not knowing much and also internet access was not as easy as today so finding music was actually a
golden moment…that being said he gave me Broken hope “Bowles of repugnance “ , Death“symbolic” , Nile “ Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka “ and from there I was blown away …my first death metal buy was six feet under “true carnage”

3.Bleeding Spawn was originally started in 2009 when did you and the other members decide to
start this band? What is the current line-up of the band?
Darius : I went to a show and this band was playing and me and Dominic(bassist) where already
jamming in displeased disfigurement , there was this drummer that was killing it on stage and I
turned to Dom and told him we need to get this guy …so I went to him directly after their show and
told him I want to play with him …2 weeks later I got the phone call and we hit our first band
practice .
Current members are
Darius Wilken / guitar
Dominic Vorster / bass and vocal
Dominic Bulmer / drums
Mitch Wilken / vocal
Wouter botha /Guitar

4.Who would you say are the bands biggest influences and have they remained the same over the years? For the readers who have never heard Bleeding Spawn how would you best describe the bands musical style?

Dominic : We have always had our influences as members we all listen to a variety of music and our music taste has never really changed but adapted and evolved , as for me I’ve been massively influenced by bands like fear factory , cattle decapitation , cannibal corpse ..but through the years things have not changed but grown musically , currently driven by more brutal death and slam bands my influence still ranges from many genres within metal.

Our musical style has been said to be futuristic and new …I would say we bring elements of all technical and groove and combine them in one .

Darius : Dino , max, peter , …all music I come ..

Modern death metal with slam influence and triplet

5.Pariah Attestant is the bands newest EP.being released through CDN Rec. when did  the band first come in conta7.Where does the band draw influences for the lyrics and what are some subjects written about on the new release?Which usually comes first the music or the lyrics?

Dominic: The new release we decided to go for 3 topics that we love to sing about

ct with this great label?

Darius: 4 years ago we first sent our albums to brutal mind , then cdn got some cds  from tyhem then craig got hold of darius…and then we discuseed  it and came down to signing with them.

6.How long did it take the band to write to the music for the new release? How long does it usually take the band to complete a song?

Dominic: the writing process for us is vital we are extremely anal on arrangements it might seem easy but the process etake in order to write material is very clinical …we try and anaylayse all angles and set our aspirations high….so it takes us time for the song to be complete but that time we put in we hope it resonated well with people

Darius : I wrote the songs about year and half back from there I took it to the band and we worked on riffs and patterns until we are all happy and can not only play it on studio time but also nail it for stage

7.Where does the band draw influences for the lyrics and what are some subjects written about on the new release?Which usually comes first the music or the lyrics?

Dominic: The new release we decided to go for 3 topics that we love to sing about Mutant genetic x is about a genetic pool that was discovered creating a monstrous being that went on a killing rampage unstoppable and brutal , this mutant became the weapon of a big corporation .

Control human delete is about government agencies and how they as said control us just to see us end …much lik how things are in the world

Squirt cunt butchery was a title given years ago , it was always so heavy to say that infront of people and getting frowned upon …this song is pretty gorey …about acidic juice that flows from a women when she squirts causing her victims to burn gruesomely …but finally she gets hacked up but only to the demise that her vagina is a living butcher and gives her life through blood and murder ..

Darius usually names the songs gives them a purpose and then gives them to me to write around the topic…but we all have our influence as to what direction …..normally music first then lyrics last

8.Besides the upcoming  Pariah Attestan trelease are the bands previous releases still available to purchase?Besides physical releases does the band have any other merchandise currently available for the readers to purchase?

Darius: yes we still have physical albums available  and we always have merch and that what we don’t have in stock we will order and custom print. We have all available like shirts, flags, stickers, cups. Albums, vest, hoodies, long sleeves

A memory that will never leave me is the tour we had with Fleshgod appoclaypse I learned a lot and was the best feeling ever being on the road doing what I love

Darius : Opening up for aborted and cattle decapition was on my top tier lists for most memorable shows , also touring for 7 days with fleshgod apocalypse

10.When bands are able to play live shows again are their any shows planned in support of the Pariah Attestant release? If yes where will the band be playing and who are some bands you will share the stage with?
