1.Hello please introduce yourself to the readers?
Im Rob the Slob, bass & vocals in Repuked.
2.When did you first start listening to death metal music and who were the first bands you discovered? Who are some of the current bands that have caught your attention?
It was in my early teens in the mid 90´s, discovered Entombed and Dismember on local television shows. Bought their albums, checked the thanks list and discovered more bands, like Autopsy etc.
Some current bands that are not only awesome but also friends of Repuked. Graveyard Ghoul and Cryptic Brood from Germany. Snet from Prague. Pyre from Russia. Interment from Sweden. Vuil from Scotland. Necrowretch from France. Nekrofilth from the US.
3.Repuked was started in 2007 when did you and the other members get the idea to start this band? Are you satisified with how things have progressed over the years with the band?
I was playing in a brutal death metal band called Godphobia at the time of year 2007, which was great but I wanted to play simpler and more raw stuff. So I started Repuked as a side project with my friend Nicke Piss and Tobbe who also was in Godphobia.
We got together and recorded a demo and record labels asked almost right away if we were interested in releasing a full length. We ended up signing with Soulseller Records from Holland and we are still working with them to this date, Jorn the guy who is running the label is a cool and easygoing. We are very satisfied, since we didn’t have any specific goals from the start but to play filthy fucking death metal and now we re about to release our 3rd full length album and have played a lot of cool shows and made some very good friends in the scene.
4.Who would you say are the bands biggest influences and have they remained the same over the years?For the readers unfamilar with Repuked how would you best describe the bands musicial style?
Well, every band that Chris Reifert has been involved in more or less. It´s all golden shit. Autopsy, Abscess, the Ravenous, Murder Squad etc.
Repuked has a non musical style, I think that describes us quite accurately.
5.Dawn Of Reintoxication is the bands newest full-length which will be released in October how long did it take the band to write the music for the new release?How long does it usually take to complete one song?
It took about 7years. We worked very hard. Like 1-2songs per year.
We´ll try to get better and next time double that to 14years and release an EP.
6.Who usually handles writing the lyrics for the music and what are some subjects written about on the newest release? Which usually comes first the music or the lyrics?
I write all the lyrics, just so I have an excuse to not write any of the music. The other guys handle the music composing stuff, and then I come up with lyrics for that.
For this new album the theme is mostly about being drunk or hungover, I tried to write from own experiences. One of the new songs "Sewer Rain" accidentally became a drink recipe, so there´s that.
But there´s also some good old horror and gore lyrics, it´s death metal after all.
7.Besides the upcoming Dawn Of Reintoxication are the bands previous releases still availible?Besides physical releases does the band have any other merchandise currently availible for the readers to purchase?
I think our earlier stuff is available at Soulseller records.
Sometimes we bring merch to our shows. We are kind of lazy, we have been thinking about getting ourselves a webpage and sell merch there. It might happen, but otherwise just contact on us online or ask us if you see us.
8.Has Repuked played very many live shows over the years or do you prefer working in the studio?What have been some of the bands most memorable shows over the years and who are some bands you have shared the stage with?
We have played some shows and we really prefer that to being in a studio. We´ve been on 3 EU tours. One tour was in a big bus supporting Entombed AD and Grave. And two tours in a van, one was supporting Nekrofilth and the other was supporting Cryptic Brood.
We have also played some festivals, mostly in Czech republic and Germany. And a lot of gigs around Sweden as well.
One memorable show was at Obscene Extreme back in 2012, because we really sucked balls that night. I´m just happy we have gotten a chance to redeem ourselves. Let´s say we have learned the hard way about not drinking too much before a show.
9.What does Undergroud Metal mean to you?
It means the world! All the hardworking guys and girls putting out releases, arranging shows, doing zines, podcasts, art, promoting music and everything. We have met so many great people during all these years active in Repuked, it´s amazing. Hail the underground scene, you know who you are!
10.Repuked comes out of Sweden's legendary death metal scene what is your opinion of the Swedish death metal scene over the years?
Fucking great!
It´s quite nice being from Stockholm to share home turf with some of the greatest bands ever. What can I say?
11.Who are your all-time favorite Swedish bands and are their any new bands you feel the readers should check out?
There are so many but here´s a few which I guess people already know about.
All-time favorites: Dismember, Entombed, Murder Squad, Interment, Grave, Massgrav, General Surgery etc.
“New” bands: Bombs of Hades, Tormented, Viagra Boys, bloodofjupiter, Morbus Chron and many more.
12.Besides Repuked do any of the members currently work with any other bands or solo projects?
Our guitarist and drummer also plays in a black metal band with some other dudes, called Katharos. They are about to record a new album soon. We share rehearsal space with them, and I can say keep an eye out for them, they are grrrrrreat.
13.When you need to take a break from working on new music or band business what do you like to do in your free time?
Drink, like a lot.
