Interview with Scott B. Vocalist and guitars of Fornicus done by Patrick
1.Hails Scott please introduce yourself to the readers? At what age did you first discover metal music and who were some of the first bands you listened to?
I am Scott vocalist, guitarist, and drummer for Fornicus. I first got into heavier music when I was pretty young...I forget the age but I was still a child. I sifted through my Father's record collection and found bands like Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Led Zeppelin, Dio, and of course Black Sabbath. From there I found Metallica like just about everyone else and it snowballed.
2.When did you first meet the other members of Fornicus and was it long before you all formed the band?
3.What is the current line up of the band? And for the readers who have never heard Fornicus's music how would you best describe it?
Our current live lineup is Chris on bass, Clinton on guitar, and myself on drums and vocals. Our music is an intense assault on the listener that expresses violence, disgust, and hatred for this world's theistic philosophies. Many songs are fast-paced and brutal but we do occasionally have a melodic edge.
4.How did you and the band come in contact with Negative Earth Rec.?
Negative Earth is Kelly, our former guitarist and current member of Gorgy and the newly formed Obsidian Shrine and myself currently. We use the label to release our projects and are planning to possibly release other's in the near future.
5. Fornicus is getting ready to release their second full length "Hymns Of Dominion" how long did it take the band to write the music for the new release?Does the whole band take part in the writing process or does one member write everything?
This album written by Chris and myself mostly together after Kelly and our former drummer David had left the band. We wrote for roughly a year and started recording late winter of this year.
6.Who usually takes care of writing the lyrics what are some topics the band writes about on the new release?
I do all the lyrics for the most part. Topics are typically anti-religious and misanthropic in nature.
7.Besides the new release "Hymns Of Dominion" does the band have any past releases still available for the readers to buy? Other then releases is their any other merchandise available for the readers and if yes what is available?
All our merch and music are available on our bandcamp page. We have our first album Storming Heaven which is digital only at this point (sold out of physical) and a short EP from last year called Feast For Rats. We have a couple shirt designs up as well.
8.What does black metal mean to you?
Though I don't consider us pure black metal it means power, independence, and honor to me. It is the ultimate expression of all contempt and hatred and a tool to destroy the weak.
9.Fornicus comes out of Kentucky's black metal scene what is the metal scene like in Kentucky?
Where we are located there is no scene whatsoever. Louisville and Lexington have small scenes that we have played with some strong bands.
10.Who are some of your all time favorite bands from Kentucky? And are their any new bands you feel the readers should watch out for?
Abominant for me are the stalwarts of KY extreme metal who released their 11th album called Napalm Reign over the summer that I had the pleasure and privilege to record at my studio. Other great bands include my former band Gorgy, Old Wolf, Nahab, Pyromancer, Tombstalker, Creature of Exile, Savage Master, Astrum, etc. There are a lot of solid underground bands in Ky.

11.Besides working in Fornicus do you or any of the members currently work with any other bands or projects?
Currently we are all focused on Fornicus though I may be recording drums for a collection of songs Clinton has written that are killer but are of a different sound and vibe than Fornicus.
12.When not working on new music or band business what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
These days we both spend most our time at work... slaves to the grind.
13.Thank you Scott for taking the time to fill this interview out do you have any final words for the readers?
Check out Hymns of Dominion at fornicus.bandcamp.com and facebook.com/fornicus666. Hails to all who support the underground and thanks for the interview!
