Moribundus Christus interview done by Namtar posted on 4-20-23

This is Namtar Axarcuth reporting from Philadelphia PA, today we are speaking with Yaotzin and I Misanthrope from Moribundus Christus

1.) When was Moribundus Christus conceived and what was the ideology behind the band?

IM: We started in 2016 after talking about getting together and making some really ferocious and angry black metal. Overall, we hate religion and every other controlling system in general. Anything or anyone that says, "You can't do you", we are dead set on destroying them.

Yaotizin: We started in 2016 with the vision of all out

Warfare against the stagnation of Black Metal

As in that time things were getting stale and

No one was really in our opinon producing real hate driven black metal.

2.) Your first release Hostile was pure chaotic black metal unlike anything else I have ever heard along with your new single Ruins Of Sanity, will the band continue to bring this style of pure chaotic black metal?

IM: Most definitely! We started with The Morbid Cult EP in 2017 basically proving we could play good, raw, angry black metal. When we started writing Hostile in 2019, we wanted to push the envelope into full-blown chaos and keep going with that while at the same time keeping it black metal. I first did vocals on the single "Wrath of Hell", and I definitely strive on each track to bring forth pure unbridled fury.

Yaotizin: Hostile was a big step forward for us in our vision for Moribundus christus. We just threw all caution and fucks to the wind and created hateful art

Fulfilling for the time being the vitriol and untamed fury and anger inside us.

The next album will be another envelope push in our style to create more of a hate filled maelstrom of destruction and darkness.

3.)What is the content of your lyrics, and do they relate to each other song by song?

IM: Most everything is either angry, satanic, or anti-religious, but I have started writing some lyrics for MC. I tend to get psychological with my lyrics while also explaining what lead me to get there. "The Ruins of Sanity" goes through all the controlling bullshit we are fed by every aspect of society and culminates in the conclusion that the human race should be destroyed because we're all full of shit. We're never going to see eye to eye because of controlling and divisive power structures, so we should just destroy it all.

4.) Both of you Yaotzin and I misathrope are involved in many projects ,would you like to tell us what they are and how each band differs?

IM: I have my solo project, I, Misanthrope, which is usually lyrically psychological and musically dark and experimental. I try not to pigeonhole the genre on it, and depending on who I'm working with, the music can get very experimental. My latest album Wilt has some black/death metal elements in it, but there is a LOT of goth and death rock on it. The guitar parts were actually some of my very first recordings when I started Quietus in 2000. The other project I have is BloodSong, and it's purely Glenn Danzig-era Misfits and Samhain worship. I wanted to continue where those bands left off, which is something I wanted to do since I was a teenager. I released (digitally and for free under the Fair Use Act of 1976 - I don't want to get sued) "Initium Meets Earth AD" in late 2021/early 2022. It was based on an idea presented by YouTuber Frumess, and did some episodes showcasing it. Both BloodSong and I, Misanthrope are on Bandcamp.

Yaotizin: I do another black metal project since 2001 called Blaspherion. Which is more raw grim black metal

And has a few releases out via Plague Demon records.

Also I play guitar in the death metal band

CRANIAL IMPALEMENT who just had rereleased a

2013 studio recording album via Plague demon records.

5.) What are some of your main musical influences for this band?

IM: Mayhem, Sarcofago, early Morbid Angel, DarkThrone, Abigor, Full of Hell, Bestial Warlust, Blasphemy - chaotic blackened grind!

Yaotizin: Impiety, Anaal Nathrakh, December Wolves

The Dillinger Escape plan, Skinny Puppy, Enslaved..

I could keep going.

6.) What is the next move for Moribundus Christus? Do you have any upcoming releases you would like to discuss?

IM: We just released the completed version of "The Ruins of Sanity" - the instrumental was on a US/Indonesian black metal comp from last year. We are currently working on a new album called Apocalyptic Extermination Protocol, which is promising to be just as uncompromising and chaotic

7.) Yaotzin you live in Chattanooga Tennessee,What is the metal scene like there?

Yaotizin: It's slowly growing with new talent.

8.) What is your overall opinion of today's metal scene? Do you think it's become stagnant or are you hearing alot of good metal coming out these days?

IM: Definitely a mixed bag. This tends to happen when there's a LOT of different artists out there, but that being said there are some great metal musicians and bands out there. I say if you have the drive, make the art - fuck what everyone else thinks. You do it for you.

9.)Do you have any plans of touring or playing shows in the future or will you remain a studio band?

IM: We are definitely considering a one-off show in the future. If that goes well, we will do more, but they will be few and far between.

10.) Do you have anything else you would like to say? Any words of wisdom for new bands? Or anyone you would like to thank?

IM: I want to thank all the bands, labels, and fans that have supported us over the years - you know who you are! Again, if you have the drive and vision, do whatever you can to make the art

I would like to add that I'm very happy to have the pleasure of releasing all of your bands on my lable Plague Demon Records, We have been friends a long time and I support you both in all you do, Keep the chaos coming , stay vicious and Hails to both of my warbrothers!                                                         Moribundus Christus                                                                                                                                    https://moribunduschristus.bandcamp.com/                                                                                                https://www.facebook.com/moribunduschristus/                                                                                        Plague Demon Rec.                                                                                                                                       https://plaguedemonrecords.storenvy.com/                                                                                                  https://plaguedemonrecords.bandcamp.com/music                                                                                     https://www.facebook.com/Plaguedemonrecords.net/                                                                                  https://www.instagram.com/namtar.axarcuth/?hl=en                                                                                  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt4Jqad8hAHPHisR2aU4Q4A
